Hello! My name is Filipa and I am a Certified Tour Guide in Lisbon and its surroundings. Living in such a beautiful city has led my parents to impart me with principles of valorization of heritage and history from a very young age, probably having taken me to every museum and palace there was to be visited! Thus, I believe this might be the reason why I appreciate and enjoy history so much. Added to my love for communication and languages, it only made sense to pursue my dream job of being a Tour Guide. I have an undergraduate degree in Tourism Information, where my classes were mostly focused on Portuguese history, art, culture, geography, as well as interpersonal skills, storytelling, and leadership. I have been working as a tour guide since 2015, first focusing on tours around the country and in most recent years, around Lisbon's metropolitan area. I went back to University to "conquer" my Master's Degree in Strategic Management of Tourism Destinations, which has instilled me with even more insight on destinations, tour planning and management. Both my academic and professional experience have given me awareness of my role as leader, interpreter and mediator between the tourists and the destinations. Therefore, I take my profession very seriously whilst showing a lot of passion for what I do. Overview of your Lisbon tour
The first part of this tour focuses on an introduction of the city. While driving through its historical quarters, you'l understand how different events shaped its history and architecture over centuries. Touring with a local like me allows you to learn about the Portuguese: who we are, what are our traditions and how superstitions shape our everyday's life. In other words, you'll have an insight on the Portuguese soul. Then, we'll explore Belém's quarter. This was the exact place where vessels from the 15th and 16th centuries (our golden age) departed from Portugal to make the world bigger and simultaniously smaller. Finally, we will have the opportunity of enjoying a tasting of the Pastel de Belém (the best version of the Pastel de Nata), which was listed by the Guardian as one of the '50 best things to eat' and considered the best pastry in the world by the TasteAtlas. This tour will provide you with great knowledge and appreciation for the Portuguese history, architecture, culture and gastronomy.
Your Lisbon tour itinerary
·Firstly, I'll pick you up from an arranged location in the city center. ·We'll then start the tour going to one of Lisbon's most breathtaking viewpoints, where we will see the city's castle from. This location will enable us to learn about the the development of the city, from its origin to the present day. ·Afterwards, we will drive through the historical quarters of Graça, Alfama and Baixa, which are considered to be some of the most quaint districts. ·Then, we will drive along the Tagus river on the way to Belém. Here we will see two World Heritage Sites: the Monastery of St. Jerome and the Belém's Tower. ·We will also stop by the Monument to the Discoveries and the place where two portuguese man departed from to accomplish the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic. ·Before driving back to Lisbon's center and drop you off, there will still be time to have the most mouthwatering custard in the world, produced in a factory inaugurated in 1837. This itinerary could be customized upon request.
