Hello! My name is Filipa and I am a Certified Tour Guide in Lisbon and its surroundings. Living in such a beautiful city has led my parents to impart me with principles of valorization of heritage and history from a very young age, probably having taken me to every museum and palace there was to be visited! Thus, I believe this might be the reason why I appreciate and enjoy history so much. Added to my love for communication and languages, it only made sense to pursue my dream job of being a Tour Guide. I have an undergraduate degree in Tourism Information, where my classes were mostly focused on Portuguese history, art, culture, geography, as well as interpersonal skills, storytelling, and leadership. I have been working as a tour guide since 2015, first focusing on tours around the country and in most recent years, around Lisbon's metropolitan area. I went back to University to "conquer" my Master's Degree in Strategic Management of Tourism Destinations, which has instilled me with even more insight on destinations, tour planning and management. Both my academic and professional experience have given me awareness of my role as leader, interpreter and mediator between the tourists and the destinations. Therefore, I take my profession very seriously whilst showing a lot of passion for what I do. Overview of your Lisbon tour
On the first part of the tour, we will focus on the National Palace, part of the cultural landscape of Sintra, the first ever declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This 15th century palace is also famous for its impressive 33 meters high chimneys, precious glazed tiles and ceilings. We will walk along Sintra's charming streets and then take you to Cabo da Roca - the westernmost point of continental Europe. As for lunch I can recommend one of the many restaurants along the coast on the way to Cascais, which are privileged with the most breathtaking view over the Atlantic Ocean. Incidentally, they mostly specialize on fish and seafood. The latter part of this tour we be an exploration of Cascais and Estoril, part of the Portuguese Riviera, therefore, chosen by the Portuguese royal family as their summer getaway destination. In Estoril, I will tell you about the town's connection World War II and also to James Bond!
Your Lisbon tour itinerary
·Firstly, I'll pick you up from an arranged location in the city centre. ·We'll then start the tour going to Sintra and visiting the fascinating National Palace. ·Afterwards, we will have a coffee and a 'queijada' or 'travesseiro' break at the charming town centre. ·After we will drive to Cape of Roca, the westermost point of continental Europe, to see its breathtaking view. ·We will have a lunch break at a restaurant of your choice on the way to Cascais. ·After lunch we will explore, on foot, the town of Cascais, walking along its coast and admiring the beautiful views. ·Before heading back to Lisbon, we will drive through Estoril, where we will see its casino and the hotel where Ian Fleming stayed. ·At last, you'll be dropped off at the arranged spot. This itinerary could be customized upon request.
