I’m Rui, a certified local guide based in Lisbon, and over the years I’ve had the pleasure of delivering more than 900 private tours across Portugal for travelers from all over the world—especially from the United States and Canada. My approach is simple: to offer a personal, relaxed, and well-organized experience, where you can enjoy Portugal at your own pace while I take care of all the details. I try to make each day feel natural and enjoyable—combining history, culture, local insights, and flexibility along the way. Many of my guests say it feels more like exploring with a knowledgeable local friend than being on a traditional tour. I specialize in private, fully customizable and skip the line tours throughout the country, including Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Óbidos, Nazaré, Fátima, Tomar, Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, the Douro Valley, Évora, the Algarve, and even southern Spain. Whether it’s a full-day tour or a multi-day itinerary, everything is adapted to your interests and pace. For cruise travelers, I offer flexible shore excursions designed around your schedule, with smooth pick-up and return so you can explore with complete peace of mind. I also provide private transfers across Portugal, which can include stops along the way—turning travel days into part of the experience. The car that I use in my tours is a SUV, a Peugeot 5008. Comfortable and spacious, with a trunk big enough for large suitcases and carry on’s. More than just guiding, I focus on creating moments you’ll remember—through stories, places, and a genuine connection to the country. Seja muito Feliz

So, you need to go from Lisboa to the Douro Valley We can make it easy and comfortably; it is a four/five hours trip in a speedway until the northern countryside of Portugal. Or. . . we can select some places along the way, to visit, have lunch, see a monastery, have a drink with a view or just to stretch the legs. We will pass by/close to some of the most important cities of Portugal: Santarém, Óbidos, Tomar, Alcobaça Fátima, Aveiro, Coimbra. Probably, these places don't mean that much to you but, each of them have something special that we can see, enjoy, taste, or just admire. Architecture, sports, history, food, monuments, music, wine, stories, viewpoints, literature, ocean, people, past, present, future. Although it is a small country, the Portuguese history and culture are very different from North to South. During this day trip, I will do my best to give you a big picture of my country, my people, our history, present and future and, very important, I will drive you safely until your hotel at Porto.
