Hi, I'm Jolijn — and honestly, being a guide never really felt like a job to me. It started with a simple love: the kind of curiosity that makes you stop in front of a painting and wonder about the person who made it, or pause on a canal bridge just to take it all in. What I love most isn't the monuments or the museums themselves — it's the moment when a traveller sees something for the first time and their eyes light up. That exchange, that new connection between a person and a place (and between two people who just met!) — that's what gets me out of bed in the morning. I grew up with a deep passion for art history and the stories behind the things we see every day. Amsterdam is full of them — hidden in its canal houses, its courtyards, its Golden Age masterpieces. I love making those stories feel alive and personal, not like a textbook. But here's the thing: a great day out isn't about rushing from highlight to highlight. It's about finding your pace, following your curiosity, and maybe ending up somewhere neither of us expected. I'm relaxed, flexible, and genuinely enjoy the conversation along the way — whether you want to go deep into Rembrandt's technique or just want to know where the locals actually eat lunch. Think of it less as a guided tour, and more as a day out in Amsterdam with a friend who happens to know a lot about the city — and can't wait to introduce it to you. *Official Art Valuer. *Officially registered with Chamber of Commerce Tourism . *Amsterdam permit tours in Centre and red light district *license guest guide rijksmuseum *Professional Dutch Driving Licence *Friend member Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum

The Jewish population has been an essential part of Amsterdam’s history since around 1550. Jewish communities played a key role in the development of trade, industry, culture, and intellectual life during the Dutch Golden Age. Amsterdam became a place of relative religious freedom, attracting Sephardic Jews from Portugal and Spain, which led to the construction of the iconic Portuguese Synagogue Over the centuries, Jewish life deeply shaped the character of Amsterdam through its traditions, businesses, arts, and neighborhoods. At the same time, the story of Jewish Amsterdam also includes its darkest chapter: the Holocaust. During World War II, a large part of the Jewish population was deported and murdered in concentration camps such as Auschwitz. Today, monuments and memorials throughout the city keep their memory alive and remind us of the impact this tragedy had on Amsterdam and its people. I look forward to sharing the powerful and meaningful story of Jewish Amsterdam with you
