Hiya! How are you? My name is Timm and my two biggest passions are history and Amsterdam. Hence, nothing makes me happier than combining these great loves of mine to create an authentic Dutch experience for you! Tall, blonde, and a big cheese lover, that's me! As you can probably tell, I was born and bred in the Netherlands (the Hague to be precise) and I moved to Amsterdam 8 years ago. It was always my dream to live in the Dutch capital, and I can't wait to show you my reasons why. I'm a History graduate of the University of Leiden (the oldest university in the Netherlands) and I finished my Masters in Arts and Culture. My specializations are Dutch history and Dutch paintings from the 17th century (the Dutch Golden Age). If you want to experience the glory days of Amsterdam, then I recommend the Amsterdam 17th century tour. This tour includes a visit to a classic Dutch house, a picturesque walk alongside the historic canals, and a stop at the amazing Rijksmuseum, which is our national gallery. However, if you prefer to discover some hidden gems in this thriving city, I can take you on the "Amsterdam: Behind-the-Scenes tour. This off-the-beaten-path tour will entail a visit to the Jordaan area, where you can peruse peaceful courtyards, discover a secret passageway, and catch a glimpse of not-yet-discovered islands. The tours that I offer are created from my point of view so that that you walk away with a richinsight into the Dutch culture and everything else my beautiful country has to offer. However, if you have a specific place that you would like to see, let me know - I would love to hear what you want to experience and make that happen for you! Sharing and creating stories is the red thread in my life. I started with tour guiding more than 10 years ago and I'm still loving every minute of it. Prior to starting my private-tour business, I worked for several Dutch and American companies that specialized in tours in the Netherlands and across Europe. I can't wait to show you around and to share the love I have for Amsterdam and the rest of the country. If you have any questions or if you require more info, please don't hesitate to reach out. Hope to welcome you soon! * Official tour guide * over 10 years of experience tour guiding in The Netherlands * 6 years of experience tour guiding in Europe * History (bachelor) - University of Leiden * Arts and Culture (masters) - University of Leiden * Caravaggio course. Who hasn’t heard of Amsterdam’s infamous Red Light District? But there’s so much more to this neighborhood than meets the eye. As the oldest part of the city, it’s a place where history, culture, and modern life collide in the most fascinating way. During this guided tour, you’ll discover the real story behind the Red Light District — far beyond the windows and neon lights. I’ll take you through its narrow streets and hidden corners, revealing surprising contrasts and sharing insights that most visitors never hear. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, we step into a quieter, almost forgotten part of the district. Centuries ago, this peaceful area was home to more than 25 cloisters and monasteries. Today, the street names and historic buildings still whisper the stories of that past. Ready to explore the Red Light District in a way that’s insightful, respectful, and truly eye‑opening? Join me and uncover the district’s most unexpected and undiscovered side.
- We will start in the beating heart of the city, the Dam Square. - China town - Nieuwmarkt - Red light district - Oude kerk - Smallest ally in the city - Smallest house in the world - Quieter area of the Oudezijdsbrugwal Tour can be done during the whole day, but it is more magical after sunset.
