Kinderdijk, a UNESCO site and home to 19 windmills is possibly the only authentic place in The Netherlands, where you can explore the windmills. After visiting Kinderdijk, you will have the option to choose from one of the following cities i. e. Rotterdam, Gouda, Delft, Hague, and Leiden. Gouda, Hague, Delft, and Leiden are historic cities and full of the old-world charm that characterizes many cities in Europe. On the contrary, Rotterdam is a more modern and hip city. I could not have picked a better tour guide than with J Gopinath. He was prompt in picking me up. Gave me enough time to visit in the 2 areas I wanted to see. He showed me to a antiques shop in Deflt that I spent way too much money as he knew I liked the KLM houses. He explained everything to me and the surrounding area and history. I would definitely use him again on my next visit to Amsterdam.
We enjoyed the day we spent with Gopinath touring Kinderdijk and Rotterdam. We requested Rotterdam because of our interest in the modern architecture there, and he planned a great itinerary that covered a lot in the time we had. At Kinderdijk he guided our visit with the perfect timing to take it all in. He is a caring and attentive guide, and we had a great day!

We really wanted to see the windmills, but Gopinath's tour was much more than a picture taking excursion. He knew the topic of water management very well, provided complete and interesting explanations about it and how the systems of windmills worked. Fascinating stuff! We could explore at our own pace, perfect since my husband couldn't walk fast or far. We also stopped in Utrecht to see the incomplete church and tower - that was an interesting and strange story.
I will pick you up from Amsterdam and we drive to Kinderdijk located in the province of South Holland. The drive will be about 75 minutes. Kinderdijk is a group of windmills and pumping stations that was created to keep the area dry. Today, Kinderdijk is a UNESCO site, more famous for its stunning views. Enjoy visiting the windmills or take a boat ride to get the best view. After Kinderdijk, you have the option to visit Rotterdam, Gouda, Delft, Hague, or Leiden. Rotterdam is the second biggest city in the country and unlike Amsterdam, Rotterdam is modern with swanky high-rise buildings and recent but impressive bridges. Gouda: Synonymous of the Dutch cheese, Gouda is a 750-year-old historic city. Leiden: Home of Rembrandt and American Pilgrims and countless monumental buildings. Hague: Political capital of the Netherlands and the 3rd largest city. Delft: Home of Delft Blue, Vermeer and historic monuments. Finally drop off at your hotel or accommodation in Amsterdam.
