Hello! I’m Ravil. Born in Moscow, I moved to the Netherlands in 1989 — first to Nijmegen, and since 1996 to Amsterdam, which I’ve called home ever since. What began as showing friends and visitors around slowly turned into my work, and nearly thirty years later I still enjoy it as much as ever. I specialize in private car tours for people who’d rather have a flexible day than follow a rigid schedule. I’ve always been especially drawn to the smaller towns and the Dutch countryside — a village café, a quiet canal, an unexpected conversation, or a stop that wasn’t in the plan. These often turn out to be the highlights of the day. Some guests come for history, architecture, and art; others for local life, food, or simply to see the country beyond the usual tourist spots. I’ll admit I sometimes get a little carried away when a place I love comes up — so please don’t hesitate to tell me when you’ve seen enough or simply need a coffee. My aim is never to rush you through a checklist, but to help you experience the Netherlands in a way that fits your interests, at the pace that suits you. When I’m not guiding, I travel myself. In the winter months, you’ll regularly find me exploring Southeast Asia, which keeps reminding me what it’s like to be a visitor in a foreign country. A few practical notes: we travel in my modern SUV, comfortable for up to four passengers; for larger groups, I can arrange a minivan. I guide in English, Dutch and Russian, hold an official Amsterdam guiding permit, and am registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

Join me for a walk through Amsterdam and discover my city beyond the usual checklist. Every guide has a story — I'd like you to hear mine. Amsterdam has been my home since 1996, and walking is the best way to know it. We'll see the famous spots and some of my favourites — a quiet canal, a hidden hofje, and one of the oldest bars in town, where sailors once paid for their drinks with live monkeys. Along the way you'll find out why people dug the canals in the first place, why some houses are impossibly narrow while others stand wide and proud, and why so many lean — tipped forward or huddled together like old friends after a long night. Every tour is built around you, so tell me what interests you most, and I'll plan the day around it. My aim isn't just to show you famous places, but to help you understand how the city works and how people live here today. Ready to see the real Amsterdam with me?
Possible highlights include: Amsterdam Centraal Station and the historic waterfront Damrak, Amsterdam's traditional gateway to the city Dam Square and the Royal Palace The medieval heart of Amsterdam and the Burgwallen canals Rokin and its famous leaning houses The Begijnhof The Canal District and its elegant merchant houses Munt Tower and the Flower Market area The magnificent Tuschinski Theatre, one of Amsterdam's architectural landmarks Rembrandtplein The Jewish Quarter Waterlooplein and its famous flea market (on market days) The Skinny Bridge over the River Amstel The exact route depends on your interests, the pace of the day, and any special events taking place in the city.
