Overview of your Amsterdam tour
We will meet at the airport and drive to the historical centre of the bustling city of Amsterdam, in the 17th century the commercial centre of the world, with 8500 houses older than 300 years, 50 miles of canals, 1500 bridges and 1MILLION bicycles, now housing 180+ nationalities. This city is described by the American professor Russel Shorto as : "The most liberal city in the world" We will drive you along the Amstel river, stop to see the Rembrandt windmill, the "skinny bridge", Dam square with the 17th century town hall turned into the Royal Palace, the mass of 17th century houses that line the canals, Minttower and Waag. We will walk in the downtown area and complete the tour with a 60 minute boat ride in the famous canals of Amsterdam. I will bring you back to the airport or your local hotel. ***Optional is a guided tour in the Rijksmuseum ! Ask me for a quote***

Renè was a gracious and knowledgeable host. The tour included a riding trip from the airport to sites in and around Amsterdam, plus a canal tour. The pace was perfect and required very little walking. As an experienced guide for over 40 years, Renè's insights and background of history of all things Dutch was most interesting. If you are looking for a private tour by car I would highly recommend Renè.

We had a lovely tour of Amsterdam with René yesterday. We were on a stopover for one night on our way to South Africa and René picked us up from our airport hotel which made things so easy for us. He took us to see the outskirts of Amsterdam first and we saw some amazing houses and traditional windmills. We then went in to the city and the tour included a canal trip too. We had our 12 year old daughter with us and René really took the time to explain all the local history to her. Thank you René.
