Hi! My name is Julia, and I'm a born and raised Amsterdammer. Having been a guide for nearly a decade, I love to showcase my local knowledge to craft a unique experience for every guest I have. I'm a certified private guide with a particular passion for Dutch art and cultural heritage. My experiences typically focus on the Amsterdam that rarely makes it into guidebooks – stories about the canal house facades that have stood for centuries; the jenever distillers still working with 17th century recipes; the stories behind the paintings in the Rijksmuseum that curators don't have time to tell you; and much more. I exclusively guide private tours and aim to create a specially tailored plan for your day. That means I can share with you whatever you'd like to know – whether it's the complex history of Amsterdam's mercantile rise, the local food and drink culture, Amsterdam and the Netherlands in WW2, understanding the paintings in the Rijksmuseum, or just the amazing highlights . All of it is my territory, and has been literally since my childhood! What I care about most is enhancing the quality of your visit. Not just offering photo ops of things you've already seen online, but the kind of understanding that makes a city feel better understood and more personal. This includes a private visit to a canal home that has been in the same family for generations, or a tasting with a jenever bartender who learned the trade from his grandfather. Through personal connections, you can access areas that money doesn't usually buy. All these things are optional and can be discussed.
