An ancient legend tells of a beautiful moon goddess who bestowed numerous gifts upon humankind. Among them was the ability to weave. But it wasn’t just clothes and fabrics; she also gave us the gift of weaving words together to create stories. Hey there! I’m Carlos, your dedicated guide and storyteller, here to make history as captivating as a mariachi serenade. Get ready for Mexican myths, legends, and the juiciest historical gossip! I’ll admit the path that brought me here had its fair share of unexpected twists, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Though my love for Mexico’s history and culture has been with me since my student days, my career initially took a very different route, leaving this passion as a “side hobby.” After graduating with a degree in Actuarial Sciences (plus a side degree in Art and History), I found myself navigating the corporate world. After a few years, I then tried launching my own business. It was an exciting challenge, but like many, I wasn’t prepared for COVID-19, which, predictably, took things in a very different direction and forced me to shut down my project. However, for the first time in years, I sat down to reflect on what I truly wanted, and I realized my passion was with the stories and legends that breathe life into this dynamic, crazy, and lively city. Making the leap from my office desk job to freelance tour guiding was a game-changer, and I’ve never looked back. My journey's been driven by a passion for history and learning. Even when it was “just a hobby,” I spent two decades devouring books, documentaries, novels, articles, podcasts, you name it. I was fortunate enough to learn English early, which allowed me to explore a wider universe of history, points of view, and of course, a few guilty-pleasure conspiracy theories. History isn’t just a subject for me; it’s a calling. I’ve immersed myself in its stories, its people, and its fascinating details because I’m genuinely passionate about it. And now, I’m thrilled to share that passion with every traveler I have the pleasure of guiding through this remarkable city. Whether we’re hiking through a mountain towards ancient ruins, savoring street food, or strolling through historic neighborhoods, I’ll make sure you feel at home, share plenty of nerdy fun facts, and, hopefully, help turn your visit into an unforgettable experience. I’m all about a “no rush” policy, so take your time to soak in the city’s vibrant culture, gastronomy, and traditions at your own pace. Every guest is unique, and so are their adventures. If you have an idea you’d like to include, crave a churro stop somewhere, or want to visit the exact spot where your grandma took that photo years ago, just let me know, I’ll do my best to make it happen. Let’s embark on this adventure together and uncover the secrets, stories, and magic of Mexico City. Hope to meet you soon!

Overview of your Mexico City tour

In ancient lore, lies a tale of divine sacrifice to breathe life into the sun. As each god dutifully accepted their role, Xolotl, the enigmatic god of monsters and fire, sought refuge amidst the ancient lakes and canals of Xochimilco, evading the eyes of his brethren. As he fled, the sun, in need of his sacrifice, was frozen in place… Hey there! Nice to meet you. Today, I'll be your guide and storyteller. Allow me to show you around this beautiful neighborhood just like an old friend would. We'll embark on our personal floating adventure aboard a traditional Trajinera while I share with you my unending collection of local myths and legends. Enjoy some Mariachi music while marveling at the canals, and, finally, pay a visit to a local Axolotl Preservation Center! Each traveler is as unique as their adventures. Just let me know how I can customize your experience! Especially If you're interested in visiting the nearby Coyoacán neighborhood and visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum.
