Teotihuacan Archaeological Site

When it comes to archeology, architecture, and astronomy, Teotihuacan is my favorite place. An impressive ancient city held sacred by the Aztecs. This site shows us how sophisticated and dynamic the daily life of the Teotihuacanos was: It was home to more than four distinct ethnic groups with their own religion, language, and lifestyle. One could say this is the first "global" civilization of the Americas. We will explore the temples, palaces, and pyramids, including the Quetzalpapalotl Palace, the Temple of the Feathered Conches, the Pyramid of the Moon, and the immense Pyramid of the Sun, ranked among the biggest in the world. We will walk along the Avenue of the Dead and visit the site museum, where we can admire many artifacts found during the excavations, and we will discuss the importance of religion and trade with remote areas of the continent. This tour can also be done in a hot air balloon to see the sunrise and the incredible urban layout of this site.

• We will begin our tour at your hotel or at the airport in Mexico City. • Afterwards, we will continue to the archaeological site of Teotihuacan, located 50 km (31 miles) northeast of Mexico City. • Here we will stay approximately 3 hours, time enough to explore and take pictures. • Before we go back, there are several options to have lunch, like a restaurant inside a cave or another one just in front of the Pyramid of the Sun. *We can also have lunch in Mexico City, where there are many options for International or Mexican food. This choice is up to you!
