Teotihuacan AMAZING full tour (3 hours inside the Archaeological site visiting 3 pyramids)

We have used ToursbyLocals at least 10 times in Europe, Japan, and now Mexico. Hector is without doubt the best tour guide we have had. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable, communicates exceedingly well in English, and is incredibly thoughtful. If you are a woman reading this, you will be duly impressed. Hector brought toilet paper because Mexican pubic restrooms often don’t have any. Need you read more. Hector also brought umbrellas as it does rain occasionally during the day. My wife and I unequivocally recommend Hector. You will not be disappointed. He is truly the best.

Our tour with Hector was amazing and one of the best memories of our trip. He is very knowledgeable and makes the tour incredibly engaging and fun adding visual references and illustrations. What an absolutely amazing tour! Hector was fantastic. We hired him to do a 1/2 day tour of Teotihuacan, and he was absolutely the right choice. Even before the tour date he was great- clear regular communication about pickup, about lunch after (la Gruta was our choice - great spot), and about what we needed to bring (sunscreen and hiking boots). He sent reminders the day before, and we adjusted the pickup time a little. He was right on time! Hector is deeply engaging from the start. A self-described nerd, he has a passion for the culture of his city and nation. On the drive out of the city we talked about the modern city we were passing through, and he was able to help us understand how the modern city relates to the ancient valley. As we got closer to Teotihuacan we switched to the context for the ancient city - what is known, what is assumed, what is still to be discovered. Right from the start he helped ground us in logistics, including coffee. Once we got out into the archaeological zone he pulled out maps and a mini-whiteboard which he used to great effect to explain the layout of the city, and how the city came to be buried over time. We then proceeded to visit the first of the three pyramids. After that he brought the car around to the ending spot (good planning), and let us wander up the ceremonial way, giving us ideas of a couple places to stop. He met us along the route, and brought us to see the temples of the Sun and Moon. He never lectured, rather held a long, fascinating conversation about ancient religion, culture, and architecture. He tied up loose ends, and made it clear when things are pretty certain, and when it's more mythical. He gave us choices all the time about how we wanted to spend the day, including which things we wanted to climb, and what we just wanted to look at. And he kept track of our lunch reservation at la Gruta, and got us there at exactly the right time to keep the reservation. The ride back to the city was equally fascinating, and we talked about more recent Mexican history. Really an amazing tour, and Hector is the person who made it happen.

We did a private tour of Teotihuacan with Hector and it was one of the best tours we've ever been on. First, the pyramids and the ancient city are an absolute must-see for their grandeur and history. But Hector really made the city come alive with all his detailed explanations and illustrations. So many times the things we learned just blew our mind. We enjoyed the tour so much that Hector gave us another tour at the Museum of Archaeology to further cement the knowledge we had gained in Teotihuacan. I highly recommend this tour and especially Hector who is an extremely knowledgeable, patient, and warm person. You won't be disappointed.

Hector was fantastic- the pickup and transport were excellent, and his expertise really made a difference adding extra dimension to our visit to Teotihuacan. My partner is an archaeologist and I am a history buff with background in Latin America, but he had deep academic expertise in the evolving historical context of the site and how perceptions had shifted over the years. A particular surprise was his bevy of props- he had a whiteboard that he very effectively used to illustrate the overall plan of the site and changes over the years, as well as examples of building materials that we could handle. He was very flexible in customizing the tour to our level of engagement and provided terrific tips on how to spend the rest of our week in CDMX.
