Teotihuacan "City of Gods"

Regilio was really great to work with. He arrived on time, the van was clean and spacious and he knew his information. He was open to changes to the schedule, including going back for a look at some sculptures we hadn’t seen (we were on a private tour). One of our group is afraid of heights and had a hard time navigating the stairs coming down from the Moon pyramid, and he helped her get down comfortably. One note for those staying for lunch. We requested La Gruta, which is a beautiful restaurant inside a cave. Regilio had warned us that the food was not the best, and there was another option with less ambience and better food. He was definitely right, so discuss the options with him and choose accordingly.

Rogelio was an excellent guide for our visit to Teotihuacan. He’s a clear and thoughtful communicator, generous with his time, and impressively humble in how he shares his knowledge. Teotihuacan is a complicated site—much of its history is still debated, and it’s not always clear which reconstruction decisions were political, cultural, or interpretive. Rogelio didn’t pretend to have tidy answers. Instead, he was curious, honest about the unknowns, and open to the strangeness and ambiguity of the place, which made the experience far more meaningful. He was punctual, his vehicle was comfortable, and his on-site context added real depth to what we were seeing. We felt well cared for without ever feeling rushed or over-scripted. We would absolutely recommend Rogelio for Teotihuacan and other tours in CDMX.

Rojeho drove us through Mexico City to the pyramids, sharing insights about the areas we passed, the many forms of transit that we observed, and the geography that influenced the development over millennium. Once at the pyramids, he helped us navigate the amazing site, carefully selecting the routes that worked best for us to avoid many stairs, while still seeing the multiple facets of the ruins. Rojeho was a very competent historian who placed what we saw in the historical development of the site, always carefully acknowledging what was certain and what was still unknown. To see the pyramids from different vantage points added to the insights of their symbolic creation. We also welcomed his candid characterization of the challenges facing the city as it continues development in this century. We highly recommend Romero as an excellent tour guide for everyone.

This tour was one of the highlights of our recent visit to Mexico City and we really enjoyed our guide Rogelio. The pyramids were so interesting to see and Rogelio was able to provide a lot of interesting information and he answered our questions about the location and about Mexico City in general.
