In the beautiful setting of Chapultepec Park, the architect Pedro Ramirez Vazquez created his masterwork: The Anthropology Museum of Mexico City, home to the most important collection of pre-Columbian art in the World. Together we will explore the history of ancient Mexico from its earliest beginnings to the clash of civilizations that occurred with the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors. We will admire the monumental basalt heads that the Olmec culture created 3000 years ago in the rain forests of Mesoamerica. I'll tell you about the adventurous cracking of the Maya code and help you to explore the history and culture of the Aztec Empire. I'll make sure you understand the meaning of the Aztec Sun Stone for Mexico's national identity, and that Gods like Quetzalcoatl, Tlaloc and Xochipilli will be no longer be like strangers for you. This comprehensive tour will help you to understand and appreciate the 3, 000 year old civilization of Mesoamerica and its importance for Mexico today. Let's explore!
·Once we met in the entrance lobby of the Museum, I'll proceed to give you an introduction of the history of this architectural masterpiece. ·We will then enter, proceeding to visit the most important parts of this monumental collection. Some important stops on our voyage through Mesoamerica's history are: - the section of the Olmecs with their monumental sculptures. - the Maya section, with the grave of King Pakal. - the section of the Teotihuacans and their mysterious origins. - the war-like Toltecs and their Atlas warrior. - and finally the Aztecs section, the founders of Tenochtitlan / Mexico City. Of course you can rest assure that I will be able to focus on your specific interests and adapt the tour accordingly. I am looking forward to meeting you.
