Hola! Welcome to the most amazing city in Latin America! I have travelled to many countries and worked and studied in Mexico, Germany, Italy, Ghana, and the United States, but I don't know any place like Mexico City. Since I visited Mexico for the first time as a backpacker, I fell in love with Ciudad de México, its culture, its people, its amazingly fascinating history, and of course its world-class cuisine. After pursuing my studies in History, Archaeology, and Political Science I moved here and became a licensed tour guide. Since 1998, I have guided tours in Mexico, other countries in South America and also in Italy. But my particular interest lies in the amazing cultural fusion and the historic roots of this vibrant metropolis. My aim is to give you a deeper understanding of this history, the legends, the archaeology, Mexico City's everyday culture and show you its beautiful surroundings. Let me know what you are curious about, and what you want to see. Together we will create an unforgettable experience. Vamos, let's go and explore… Certified Tourist Guide by the Mexican Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR). Guide License N008773 Master's Degree in Latin American History and Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin Master's Degree in Bilingual Education from University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) I won't be driving in my tours but will hire a professional driver when appropriate.

During this day trip, we will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the ridge between the magnificent Popocatépetl (5, 393 m) & Iztaccihuatl (5, 230 m) volcanoes, places full of history and legends. We will hike in the footsteps of the conquistador Hernan Cortés and his indigenous Tlaxcaltec allies, as we take in the view of two of Mexico's highest mountains. Guided by yours truly, an experienced historian and VIP guide, I'll make sure you learn about the conquest of Mexico, the local traditions and the pre-Columbian history of this impressive region. The ridge we'll cover has an altitude of approximately 3700 m (11000 ft. ) and the hike can be adapted according to your preferences. You can rest assured that this tour is only conducted during safe volcanic activity and in a safe distance to the "smoking mountain". Once we've build up an appetite, we'll savor the treats of Amecameca's local food market, and explore the beautiful colonial center of Tlalmanalco with its XVI Century Franciscan monastery.
-I'll pick you up from your hotel or an agreed meeting point in México City to then embark on an hour and a half/two hour drive to the Paso de Cortés. -We will then drive through the interesting outskirts of the sprawling megalopolis of Mexico City to reach the beautiful foothills of the volcanoes. During our drive to the ridge we will pass through pine forests to the "Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park". -Upon arrival, we'll go on an easy to moderate hike for up to 2 hours. -We'll then have a late lunch break at the Amecameca town food market. -Afterwards, we'll head to the colonial center of Tlalmanalco to visit its colonial church and Franciscan monastery. -At last, we'll drive for around an hour towards Mexico where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or an agreed point. This itinerary can of course be customized upon request.
