From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, our expert guide Antonio brought the entire sacred complex to life, sharing the remarkable history of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the story of Saint Juan Diego, and the spiritual significance of one of the world’s most important pilgrimage sites. As we explored the grounds in wheelchairs, Antonio guided us through the Old Basilica, the modern New Basilica where the tilma of the Virgin is displayed, the Chapel of the Hill (Capilla del Cerrito), and the surrounding chapels and monuments, explaining their history, symbolism, and importance to Mexico’s cultural and spiritual identity. Our mother and her sister were traveling in wheelchairs, and Antonio and our driver Rodolfo were exceptionally attentive, patient, and kind throughout the entire visit. Their care and professionalism ensured our family felt comfortable, supported, and fully able to enjoy the experience together. Their warmth and deep knowledge transformed the visit into far more than a tour it became a meaningful journey of faith, history, reflection, and connection.
