An ancient legend tells of a beautiful moon goddess who bestowed numerous gifts upon humankind. Among them was the ability to weave. But it wasn’t just clothes and fabrics; she also gave us the gift of weaving words together to create stories. Hey there! I’m Carlos, your dedicated guide and storyteller, here to make history as captivating as a mariachi serenade. Get ready for Mexican myths, legends, and the juiciest historical gossip! I’ll admit the path that brought me here had its fair share of unexpected twists, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Though my love for Mexico’s history and culture has been with me since my student days, my career initially took a very different route, leaving this passion as a “side hobby.” After graduating with a degree in Actuarial Sciences (plus a side degree in Art and History), I found myself navigating the corporate world. After a few years, I then tried launching my own business. It was an exciting challenge, but like many, I wasn’t prepared for COVID-19, which, predictably, took things in a very different direction and forced me to shut down my project. However, for the first time in years, I sat down to reflect on what I truly wanted, and I realized my passion was with the stories and legends that breathe life into this dynamic, crazy, and lively city. Making the leap from my office desk job to freelance tour guiding was a game-changer, and I’ve never looked back. My journey's been driven by a passion for history and learning. Even when it was “just a hobby,” I spent two decades devouring books, documentaries, novels, articles, podcasts, you name it. I was fortunate enough to learn English early, which allowed me to explore a wider universe of history, points of view, and of course, a few guilty-pleasure conspiracy theories. History isn’t just a subject for me; it’s a calling. I’ve immersed myself in its stories, its people, and its fascinating details because I’m genuinely passionate about it. And now, I’m thrilled to share that passion with every traveler I have the pleasure of guiding through this remarkable city. Whether we’re hiking through the ruins at Teotihuacan, savoring street food, or strolling through historic neighborhoods, I’ll make sure you feel at home, share plenty of nerdy fun facts, and help turn your visit into an unforgettable experience. I’m all about a “no rush” policy, so take your time to soak in the city’s vibrant culture, gastronomy, and traditions at your own pace. Every guest is unique, and so are their adventures. If you have an idea you’d like to include, crave a churro stop somewhere, or want to visit the exact spot where your grandma took that photo years ago, just let me know, I’ll do my best to make it happen. Let’s embark on this adventure together and uncover the secrets, stories, and magic of Mexico City. Hope to meet you soon!

Overview of your Mexico City tour

An old story tells us of a monstrous creature that fought an epic battle against the gods of life and destiny, how its demise was meant to be the origin of all things, and its journey into becoming the earth godess. Hello! Welcome to Mexico City! See the Historic Center/Downtown the way locals do! We’ll wander through centuries-old streets where Aztec ruins meet colonial palaces. Past icons like Palacio de Bellas Artes, Zócalo, Diego Rivera’s murals, and Templo Mayor, with the Metropolitan Cathedral towering above it all. I'll show you the magic of this City like an old friend would, keeping you company with my unending collection of historic fun facts, and my best hidden foodie spots recommendations! (FYI, some restaurants may or may not be haunted) Each traveler is as unique as their adventures. Just let me know how I can customize your experience. Half-Day and In-Depth versions available

Carlos is a professional in every sense of the word. His communications with us leading up to our trip to Mexico City extended well beyond the actual tour itself. My wife and I were planning a whirlwind World Cup adventure culminating with a knock-out game of 32 in the Estadio Azteca. He assisted me in neighborhood selection, restaurants and even good direction on using a car service to and from the stadium. His communication skills within the 2-days we spent with him were outstanding and he was able to share a myriad of perspectives of the cultures of Mexico and central America how they meshed and evolved over the centuries. If you have a zest for understanding the "lay of the land" both culturally and geographically, then you will really enjoy your time with him. Kathryn and Scott Saffer (NC USA)

Carlos was excellent! I wanted to change the itinerary and he was very flexible. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the city and more. He has a great deal of pride and passion for his cultural heritage. We honestly learned more with him than our other tours and I wish we had used him for other locations.

Carlos was fantastic. Our private tour Empires & Temples was perfect. Carlos lead us through old Mexico sharing his knowledge of Mexico's history from pre Columbia time to now. His knowledge of Diego Rivera and the Palacio de Bellas Artes was phenomenal. I am a photographer and Carlos was very patient as I asked to wait while I took photos. We had 3 days of tours with Carlos I highly recommend him.

Carlos is so engaging, smart and kind. I felt like I was touring with a family friend. He was happy to answer questions about history, politics, food and even practiced Spanish with our college age daughter. So glad we booked him for multiple days.

My daughter and I had a great time with Carlos on our tour of historic Mexico City. Carlos is knowledgable and friendly and willing to answer and and all questions (even when they veer far from history!)... I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn a lot and spend a lovely day with a great guide!
