Historic center walking tour

Out of all the areas around Mexico City, the Historic Center will give you the best insight into the transformations that North America’s largest city has undergone. With its pre-Hispanic archeological treasures, prominent historical buildings, over six centuries of architectural and artistic evolution and a tantalising food scene, this area has something that suits every travellers’s interests. Once the beating heart of the Aztec civilization, this vibrant and bustling zone of the cosmopolitan capital will leave you wanting to visit again and again.

Start at the Zócalo, where we introduce the origins of Tenochtitlan and the transformation of the city after the Spanish conquest. Continue to the nearby ruins of Templo Mayor, the sacred center of the Aztec empire, before visiting the impressive Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City, a fascinating blend of architectural styles built over three centuries. We then walk through historic streets to see landmarks such as Casa de los Azulejos, followed by a visit to the iconic Palacio de Bellas Artes, home to some of Mexico’s most important murals. The tour concludes with a pleasant stroll through Alameda Central, the oldest public park in the Americas, before finishing with a traditional Mexican lunch.
