Hi, I’m Erika and I'd love to introduce you to the history of my country. I’m a Certified Tourist Guide by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism; so I’d be glad to guide you through a tour in Mexico City. I’d love to accompany you visiting different places in this big city, such as the historical Downtown area, plus the most important museums or archaeological sites, in order to assist you with getting acquainted and understanding the ancient and modern Mexican history. For example, helping you gain notions about the different cultures that lived here a long time ago, which left a tangible and intangible heritage, such as pyramids and other forms of architecture, art, music, food, and so on. I’m really passionate about Mexican history. Since I was a little girl, I had a great interest about cultures from all across the world. Reading a few books, I quickly realized that Mexico was rich in culture and heritage. This ignited a spark in me, and I decided to study archaeology, as well as art history some time later, and further along, also museology, all in renowned Universities in Mexico. Learning more became a necessity for me, not only to understand the history of my country, but also to understand my own history, to understand myself. So, I’m really eager to share said acquired knowledge with you. As an Archaeologist, I have worked in government institutions for almost 20 years, and I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating in different archaeological projects with Mexican and foreign specialists, making explorations in important cities in Mexico studying different aspects, such as cave art, rock art & iconography. I have been a Tour Guide for half a decade too, and I’ve had beautiful experiences with people from different countries. I even established a beautiful friendship with some of them so far! I decided to impart Mexican culture and information because it’s very important for me to contribute to children’s education in Mexico, as well as to ensure foreign visitors acquire a different perception about Mexicans and our country. I’m a friendly person, and I truly enjoy meeting people and talking about our personal experiences. I would certainly like to hear about yours as well! Therefore, I want to invite you to engage in a different experience with me: learning while also having some fun. P.S. If you have a request for a special tour, just let me know!

I invite you to do this walking tour with me, an experienced Archaeologist & Tour Guide, through Downtown, Mexico City! You're really going to know how it feels to walk across time just visiting some of its many beautiful places. Mexico City's Downtown was catalogued as World Heritage by UNESCO due to its invaluable pre-Hispanic and colonial architecture and the history it hides. It was actually the place where Aztecs built the City of Tenochtitlan, where the Spanish Conquest was carried out! If you're someone who enjoys learning while travelling, this is the right tour for you! We're going to discuss archaeology, history, architecture & art as we explore the city. Within all the monuments, there are great stories, anecdotes & interesting legends to tell that I'm sure you'll truly enjoy to hear. So let's travel from pre-Hispanic times to colonial times, and finally through the Modern City together in just a 3 hour span!
-We'll start our tour by the Metropolitan Cathedral and then go to Templo Mayor Pyramid. -Next, we'll visit the Zocalo (Plaza de la Constitución). -We'll continue strolling by Madero Street, where we could stop in the traditional stores if you'd like to do some shopping. -We'll then pass by Iturbide Palace. -What follows will be the convent of San Francisco. -Afterwards, we'll see the House of Tiles. -Next, we'll visit Plaza Manuel Tolsá. -Later, we'll see the Post Office Palace, and finally end the tour by the Fine Arts Palace. This tour is customizable. Please contact me if you want to modify anything. Although the itinerary does not include stop for lunch, you can request to include it if you'd like! Or I could also recommend some remarkable restaurants in Downtown that you could even visit when we finish the tour.
