Greetings from Tokyo! With over 20 years of guiding experience in Japan, 15 in Tokyo, I am extremely excited at the prospect of showing you my back yard. This place is awesome! This day is about experiencing Tokyo from its pristine, sweeping boulevards, friendly local neighbourhoods and its bustling, down-to-earth alleyways. We will get a taste of the glitz and glamour of famous districts Ginza and Omotesando; enjoy the grittier side of Tokyo at the 2 famous markets of Tsukiji and Ameyokocho; and slow the pace down in the friendly local neighbourhood of Yanaka, before an injection of energy in the youthful fashion meccas of Omotesando and Shibuya. Get closer to the real Tokyo and up your step count on this full day walking tour!
Your Tokyo tour itinerary
- Meet at your hotel/cruise terminal. - Tsukiji Outer Market: wander the area, renowned for its range of seafood and other delicacies. - 15-min walk to Ginza, taking in its contemporary architecture. A visit to high-end department store, Mitsukoshi, to marvel at it's deli floor. - 8-min train to Okachimachi. Explore bustling Ameyokocho Market and stop off at the "hidden" Marishiten Tokudaiji temple. - Optional lunch. - 4-minute train to Nippori. - Visit Yanaka, a laid-back residential area. Try famous local sembei snacks and learn of the district's checkered past at Kyooji Temple. Then rub shoulders with the district's locals in Yanaka Ginza, a calm shopping street selling crafts and locally-prepared foods. - 25-min train to Harajuku. - Harajuku: walk down elegant Omotesando - Tokyo's Fifth Avenue. We will also check out the chic side streets and whacky Takeshita Dori - mecca for teenage fashion. - 2-min train to Shibuya - Shibuya: experience the famous crossing, neon and giant TV screens.
