Maru is a very engaging guide. She worked with us to personalize our tour even scouting a location to ensure it was a good experience. She took some wonderful pictures of our tour and sent them to us. Talking with her gave us a great perspective of the city and the culture. One of the best tours we have taken through TBL throughout 8 different countries. Don’t pass her up! 5 stars!!

Maru was an exceptional guide and made my time in Tokyo truly memorable. I spent a full day and a half exploring the city with her, and I could not have asked for a better introduction to Tokyo. She gave me a much more personal introduction to Tokyo, combining some of the city's essential places with neighbourhoods, streets and experiences that helped me better understand everyday life, history and culture in Japan. Over our time together, we explored areas including Asakusa, Tsukiji, Yanaka, Nezu, Kagurazaka, Meiji Jingu, Harajuku and Shibuya. Maru was excellent at adapting the days to my interests and pace, and our conversations about Japanese culture and life added enormously to the experience. She is also simply wonderful company — friendly, thoughtful, patient and genuinely interested in the person she is guiding. By the end of our time together, I felt that I had experienced much more of Tokyo than I ever could have on my own. I would recommend Maru without hesitation to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and personable guide.

We spent our first morning in Japan with Maru. She was a great guide and we loved our time with her. She is very knowledgeable and kind … explained the transportation system, general customs and traditions, took us to some great sites and even provided a few coins for offerings as well as sunscreen when it was sunnier than expected. Maru is an awesome guide, we would highly recommend!!
