Hi, I am Toshi, the National Certified Guide for both English and Spanish. I passed English 3 years ago in 2015 and Spanish in 1978 over 40 years ago. I lived in the USA for over 10 years and in Latin America for over 5 years. I am now settled in Yokohama, Japan for over 20 years. My favorite hobby is appreciating different glasses of wines from different wine regions of the world. In fact, I loved wine so much, I studied wine when I was stationed at New York, and finally became the wine sommelier. Now, I also teach wine at least once a month in Tokyo and have over 100 registered students. My main area for guiding is Tokyo. Tokyo offers such a wide variety of attractions and beautiful places such as historical and cultural places, museums, modern buildings, and fine restaurants. I especially like to take friends to many different styles of Japanese restaurants and bars. As a wine sommelier, I can guide you to the good combinations of Japanese Foods and Drinks not only wines but also Sake, Shochu and Whiskies and others. In addition to Tokyo, I also do guiding for places like Nikko, Kamakura, Hakone, Mt. Fuji area and its surrounding area. I do guiding not only for daytime but also for evenings like from 5:30 -9:30. So if you come to Japan and looking for a guide to a variety of Japanese foods and drinks please contact me. Remember, Japanese foods are not only Sushi, Tempura and Sukiyaki. I hope you can enjoy Japan with me. I will be waiting for your contacts. At two hours of train from Tokyo, Nikko has a lot of monuments to visit featuring UNESCO's World Heritage sites, including the Nikko Toshogu Shrine which is Japan's most lavishly decorated shrine and the mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate(1603-1616). The Shrine, including the Yomeimon Gate, is full of beautiful wooden sculptures. It is said that all the country's carpenters specialized in temples were gathered for it and that people don't get tired after looking at them a whole day. The numerous animals in those sculptures are thought to be symbols of peace. Among these, you will find the famous "Three Wise Monkeys" representing the maxim "See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil", taught by the Tendai Sect, a Japanese school of Buddhism There are a lot of waterfalls in Nikko but Kegon Falls is the most famous and even made it to the one of top 3 Japan's waterfall. I will talk episodes, not only talk history of each places, so that you vividly remember wonderful Nikko!
