I pursued an opportunity to teach in China. I worked as a Japanese teacher to foreigners in Shanghai. The longer I lived abroad, the more I came to appreciate the unique aspects of Japanese culture. So I started learning English and Chinese to become a bridge to help bring foreign visitors closer to Japanese culture. I like my job as a tour guide very much because it gives me the opportunity to meet many people from all over the world, all of them have different minds, cultures, traditions, history and etc. and we can share all of these with each other. Tokyo is a metropolitan city. You can enjoy shopping, eating delicious foods, also appreciating traditional places. We start at Asakusa area. You can find traditional goods, foods, games, and fashion. As we visit Senso-ji temple, you can learn about Japanese Buddhism and how to pray at temples. Tsukiji fish market is the largest seafood market in the world which has about 400 shops. You can find good restaurant for lunch or you can purchase skewered food at small food stands. There is one more important religion aside from Buddhism in Japan, Shinto. We visit the most important shrine in Tokyo, Meiji Jingu shrine. You can enjyo walking in a manmade forest leading to the main hall and learn the differences between Shinto and Buddhism. After learning Japanese food and religious culture, we go to enjoy shopping. You can find a lot type of cute ( Kawaii ) items ! This tour is a perfect chance to know Tokyo city.
Maru was fantastic! She had us on our last day in Tokyo and we still had a few places to see on our "list". She did it all! Reserved a vegan lunch, took us shopping to find some items on our "list" and was ready to change plans as needed. Wonderful energy, fun and we made memories together.
Maru made our introduction to Tokyo the highlight of our trip to Japan so far! She communicated with us well prior to our tour and was incredibly accommodating with any changes. She is very knowledgeable about the area and was able to personalize our tour to suit our needs and interests. She is kind, personable and highly qualified. Very informative and adaptable- we made several last minute changes to our tour and she was always ready to accommodate us. Also, very comfortable as we were transported in a very spacious vehicle. Maru is a lovely person with an excellent knowledge of Tokyo, and if we ever return to Tokyo we would happily retour with her.
