I welcome you to Japan! Thank you for coming to my page. I'm Sumiko who would like to your Private Guide in Japan! I was born and brought up in Yamanashi -next to Tokyo, having viewed Mt. Fuji every day until the age of 18 and moved to Tokyo for the study in college. After I worked at the central bank of Japan for about ten years, I moved to Pittsburgh, USA from 1998 to 2000 because of my husband's work. During that period, I attended the English classes for English learners at the University of Pittsburgh or a community college, also had a son (he used to tell the difference between "L" and "R" sound when in the USA, not anymore. ) I have also a daughter who was born in Japan! Currently, I also tutor English for kids at a private school twice a week which starts after regular schools. So children are also welcome! I have guided many foreign tourists for the past several years. I had been a volunteer guide since 2011 and got the national license of the certified guide in 2016. So I am quite familiar with touristy places as well as some areas only locals know. Through my study or experiences as a tour guide, I rediscovered how Japan is traditional and new, complicated and simplified, friendly and modest. I hope to help you in understanding this interesting country with utmost "OMOTENASHI" or Japanese way of hospitality. To take your own tour with me, please contact me first. We will correspond and work out the very best tour for you! - National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English) - Certified Domestic Itinerary Control Manager - A member of the Institute for Japanese Culture Experience and Education (IJCEE) - Trained by and a member of the Japan Federation of Certified Guides (JFG) - Japanese Calligraphy grade 3 (dan) I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Arriving in Tokyo by cruise ship with just a few hours to explore? Leave it to me! We’ll start at a beautiful garden once enjoyed by the Shogun, where I’ll share how he spent his leisure time. You can also relax with a cup of matcha (Japanese green tea). I love samurai history and will bring my handmade history chart to make it even more fun! Next, we’ll visit a secret observation floor to see the garden from above and enjoy a great view of both the old and new fish markets. Finally, we’ll head to Ginza, Tokyo’s most stylish district. With luxury boutiques and stunning buildings designed by world-famous architects, even just walking around is a treat! Let’s make the most of your time in Tokyo!
