An experienced Blue Badge tour guide with a PhD in Scottish history, I love my job!

From castles and clans to ancestry, archaeology and the arts, Scotland's cultural heritage is rich and varied, and I'd love to help you experience it. With a background in higher education and historical research, I'm in an ideal position to help you explore ancient archaeology, kings and queens, witch-hunting, the Jacobites or many of the other fascinating aspects of Scottish history.

Along the way, we can uncover so much more that Scotland has to offer: we can explore quirky customs, ceremonies, folklore and superstitions; feast on superb Scottish produce; embark on a whisky or gin trail; spot spectacular wildlife; bask in breathtaking scenery; visit film and literary locations (yes - definitely Outlander!); photograph iconic landscapes and architecture; and connect with Scottish artisans and craftspeople (I am a keen knitter and love using yarns produced or hand dyed in Scotland).

I own a Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE (Luxury). This is a high end vehicle with a panoramic sunroof, allowing you the best possible experience of a driving tour in Scotland. Beginning and ending in Edinburgh, we will visit the historic heart of Scotland, where key events in the Wars of Independence took place and the figures of William Wallace and Robert Bruce roamed large. Visits to Stirling Castle, Bannockburn, and the Wallace Monument.

On the second day of the tour we will travel to Ayrshire to visit the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway. We will have a short drive along the coast, with views of Dunure Castle and Arran. We will then drive north, along the banks of Loch Lomond and into the Highlands. If time allows, we will drive via Inveraray and the ruins of Kilchurn Castle, and on to Oban.

Our final day will see us drive to the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre via the Castle Stalker (Stewarts of Appin) viewpoint. Thereafter we will return to Edinburgh via Glencoe, the Trossachs National Park and Doune Castle, which was built in the 14th century by Robert Stewart, Duke of Albany.

On this 4-day Outlander-themed tour we will journey through the Scottish Highlands and over to the Isle of Skye.

En route north we will travel over the Firth of Forth, into Highland Perthshire and through the Cairngorms National Park, visiting various locations as detailed below. Overnight in Inverness.

The following day we will head westwards to the Isle of Skye. We will visit Beauly before driving alongside Loch Ness and through Glen Shiel before stopping at Eilean Donan Castle. We will cross to Skye via the Bridge. Overnight in Portree, Skye.

Day 3 takes us south to Edinburgh again, through the stunning scenery of Glencoe and the Trossachs before stopping to visit Doune Castle. Overnight in Edinburgh.

Our last day is a daytrip from Edinburgh, looping around the Forth to take in iconic Outlander locations - Midhope, Blackness, Linlithgow and Culross. Drop off in Edinburgh .

Custom tour of the Forth Valley, including the site of the Battle of Bannockburn, Bridge of Allan, Causewayhead for views of the Wallace Monument and lunch in a local pub, and Clackmannan and surrounds.

We will visit Clackmannan Tower (exterior) as well as Clackmannan Church and kirkyard, and the small town centre with its remnant historic buildings and features.

We can have a drive around Alloa, Fishcross and other local areas for reference to local mining heritage and the Alloa Advertiser newspaper.
