What better way to explore Stirling and the Trossachs than with a local? An area rich with heritage, allow me to show you around my home turf! Only a short drive from Edinburgh, Stirling lies at the very heart of Scotland. This small city played a strategically important role in medieval times, with a number of key battles taking place in the shadow of the castle. These include those fought by William Wallace and Robert Bruce, as portrayed in Braveheart (1995) and Outlaw King (2018). We'll visit Stirling Castle, with its incredible views around the Forth Valley and over to the majestic Wallace Monument, and tread in the footsteps of the Renaissance monarchs who made this impressive fortress their home. We'll then head into the scenic Trossachs, with magnificent views of mountains, lochs and glens. Take a wander in the lovely wee town of Callendar, meet Highland cows and perhaps drive over to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
Our day with Kirsty was great. I had quite a few questions before the booking because I was very specific about what I wanted to see and learn about. She communicated very well what we could expect. Some of the castles I wanted to see were currently closed for renovations but she still took us to see the grounds. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and it was a joy spending the day with her.
I cannot praise Kirsty enough for her guidance and personable suggestions on our 2 days tour in Scotland! First of all, she is the type of person that you feel like you've know forever. We had a very short trip, but with Kirsty's knowledge, we were able to fit in every dream destination we had in mind for my husband's 60th birthday. We are Buchanan's and while visiting the Buchanan Castle, Kirsty even had us a dram of whisky to toast in honor of our ancestors and his birthday! Kirsty is an amazing guide!
