Guide #5431
Hello! My name is Tomie, an officially certified tour guide. I am a young-at-heart guide. My favorite tour style is the so-called stop-and-smell-the-roses approach. Through it, I would like to share many Japanese things you have been seeking, such as various foods, from everyday dishes to traditional and seasonal ones. Additionally, I am happy if you are interested in numerous customs based on Japan's two major religions, Shinto and Buddhism such as New year's visits to temples and shrines, the spring and autumn equinoxes, and many national holidays in Japan. How about enjoying Kabuki and Noh as traditional culture, as well as so-called subculture, yes, Manga(animation) ? I guess you may have heard of Pokemon, Naruto, and Demon of slayer(Kimetsu-no-Yaiba)? Upon your request, I can explain the Tea Ceremony and Flower arrangement in detail, based on what I studied before my marriage( IoI). In particular, it is helpful to know what Matcha (powdered tea) is from scratch, because it has become incredibly popular all over the world nowadays. Now, I live in Yokohama(the second largest city in Japan) near Tokyo, but I was born and brought up in a rural country side area in Hokkaido, the northern part of Japan. I hope you enjoy compering not only cities and villages, but also a new capital, Tokyo and the old one Kyoto, both of which have very different and interesting historical and economic backgrounds. I would be very happy if my tour helps even a little to inspire each of you to draw your own picture of Japan based on your interest. I truly look forward to seeing you on my tours. * National licensed tour guide (English) * English STEP test Grade 1 * Authorized Tour Conductor * JGA (Japan Guide Association) guide Training course I don't have a commercial driver's license, so my tours are based on walking, using subway, train and taxi, depending on the tour you book.

Excellent walking tour of Yokohama. If you are looking for something different, especially for a personalized shore excursion, this is for you. Tomie is so knowledgeable, likable, warm, kind and flexible with the itinerary. We saw places no one else even thought of. As we walked thru the gardens there was a floral competition going on. The entries were so beautifully...

We had a wonderful time! Tomie made the day a delight with her excellent English and her deep knowledge of and love of Tokyo. The city is huge and travel can be slow, but her advance planning and experience using public transit got us to the chosen sights with time of spare. She was flexible enough to change venues quickly so that we could explore more of the city. ...
