Just landed in ToursByLocals! My field is Antoni Gaudí and the Catalan Art Nouveau mouvement, which is the special touch that makes Barcelona such a different city. My scholar research allows you to dig deeper and ask plenty of questions . . .
I know Gaudi's works and life, his Masterpieces and his minor projects. I was born in Reus, his hometown, across the street of Gaudi's father, grand father and great grand father's workshop. I grew up in an art nouveau building surrounded by Gaudi's urban landscape. I was raised up with the same values and traditions as he was. I can understand Gaudi's views, and I like to share them with visitors.
Being a former university professor, today I combine my touring in Barcelona and surroundings, with writing in the media, and also with academic life: congresses, research, and publications. But I am not a boring scholar guide. I will take you to try Tapas, we can explore the every-day life of the city, take amazing family pictures on the seafront. . . And as I love art, culture, travelling, and picture taking, we can share our experiences and I am sure that I will learn lots from you and your country!!
I am a holder of a PhD in Journalism and Communication, as well as a degree in Translation and Interpreting. I have written numerous books and guidebooks on Gaudí and other Catalan Art Nouveau architects, locally known as Modernists. And I have also written about the architects called Modernists in the anglosaxon world, which in Spain are called Racionalistas. We can talk about buildings; but we can talk about food, traditions, ways of living, politics, economy. . . Life in Barcelona and in Catalunya fascinates me and I love to share my views with visitors and learn about your opinions.
Walking along with me is said to be both fun and deep. I will try my best to give you an unforgettable experience. I leave you with the description of Barcelona written by the Spanish greatest writer Miguel de Cervantes, 500 years ago!!
"Barcelona, receptacle of politeness, welcoming place for foreigners, hospital for the poor, nation of the brave, place of revenge for the offended, place where strong bonds of friendship occur, and a site where its beauty is unique. "
Let's meet in Barcelona! Fins aviat!!
A Recent Review of this guide
5 star rating for her knowledge, personality, and for changing everything to the next day. Everything about the tour was great. She is great! But I think the tour company should look into a restaurant you can get a reservation at. We waited a long tine for a table ( not any fault on Tate!). We could have spent more time with Dalí or in Girona. Plus the food was not worth the wait half the items on the menu were sold out! Thanks toursbylocals and Tate for a great experience. We will use your company again
