Hola!! I'm Dr. Tate C. an Official Catalan Tour Guide (skip the line guide), researcher and writer. Like Antoni Gaudí, I was born and raised in Reus, and also like him I moved to Barcelona for my college education. This city trapped both of us. Being a former university professor, today I combine my tours, with my writing and with my academic life: congresses, research, and publications. My scholar research allows you to dig deeper and ask plenty of questions . . . More depth than breath :-) For my tours I use my own set of Radioguides, what is commonly called whisperers or quiet boxes. I will talk to a microphone and you will have a tiny earphone, similar to an earring which will highly improve the quality of the visits, specially in noisy areas, inside the taxis, and of course. . . in La Sagrada Familia! Thanks to the whisperer system, you can take pictures and walk medium distances from the grup while you keep listening to my explanations and do not lose track of the tour :-) Don't take me as a boring scholar guide. I will take you to try Tapas, we can explore the every-day life of the city, take amazing family pictures on the seafront. . . And as I love art, culture, travelling, and picture taking, we can share our experiences and I am sure that I will learn lots from you and your country!! I am a holder of a PhD in Journalism and Communication, as well as a degree in Translation and Interpreting. I have written numerous books and guidebooks on Gaudí and other catalan architects. We can talk about buildings; but we can talk about food, traditions, ways of living, politics, economy. . . Life in Barcelona and in Catalunya fascinates me and I love to share my views with visitors and learn about your opinions. Walking along with me is fun and deep. I will try my best to give you an unforgettable experience. I leave you with the description of Barcelona written by the Spanish greatest writer Miguel de Cervantes, 500 years ago!! "Barcelona, receptacle of politeness, welcoming place for foreigners, hospital for the poor, nation of the brave, place of revenge for the offended, place where strong bonds of friendship occur, and a site where its beauty is unique. " Let's meet in Barcelona! Fins aviat!! -PhD in Journalism and Communication by the UAB, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona -Degree in Translation and Interpreting by the UAB, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona -Proficiency, First Certificate and Advanced in English by the University of Cambridge, GB -TEFL, Teaching English as a Foreign Language, University of Salford, GB -Official Guide License, issued by the Catalan Government (see the picture in the pic. scroll) -Member of AGUICAT, The Catalan Licensed Tour Guides Association -Member of the Catalan Association of Journalists CPC I don't have any restriction.

Overview of your Barcelona tour

Walking the Old Town is the barcelonian's favourite tour and my family's as well. It means reviwing 2. 000 years of history! Two hours that fly as an arrow among Picasso's trails, the jewish heritage, the medieval flavours of the incense and candle's wax from the churches, the sweet aroma of hot chocolate with churros and the sticky fingers after eating turrón. . . Cobblestoned streets, tiny shops, walking underneath arches and discovering secret tales and stories about the worshipped Saint Ignatious of Loyola, Saint Eulalia, Saint Helen. . . I will pick you up in the Zurich Café, in Plaça Catalunya and we will finish the tour where you wish. That will include all the spots of the itinerary plus the old town hidden corners and anything you want to add. . . And some secret places I will unveil gradually. . . .

Tate gave us a private tour of old town Barcelona. She is a great tour guide--very knowledgable, articulate, and funny. Our tour with her was one of the highlights of our trip!

What a memorable walk! Tate was amazing: she took us out of touristy crowded Barcelona to Barcelona of locals: energetic, charming, full of spirit and unique style! We loved trying traditional Catalan turron and we enjoyed learning about Barcelona's history. Thank you, Tate, for showing us your city!

What a great 2 hours! and with a 93 yr-old Mom! Because my Mom has hearing and walking challenges, Tate took us slowly, around the Roman Wall, into the palace where Columbus returned with his tales of adventures, to look below the city (peeking into lower levels and into windows) at the Roman life underground. She knows everything and no matter what esoteric question my Mom, the retired teacher, asked, Tate knew the answer. She clearly loves Barcelona, and took us places we would never have seen.

I can't say enough about our time with Tate. She was incredibly flexible, knowledgable and truly listened to what we were interested in tailoring the tour to our interests. She has written over 20 books about Barcelona and her depth of knowledge was a true joy. You can't go wrote with her as your guide.

It was so fun walking around Old Town with Tate! She had great insights into where to go, and what to do - and took us to a magnificent chocolate shop off the main drag for a churro/chocolate treat to die for! Very knowledgeable and a perfect local to show you around and give insider tips!

Our time was limited and Tate did an excellent job at showing us as much as she possibly could. She obviously knew her city. She was very knowledgeable. Thank you so much, Tate.
