Welcome! I’m Cath, a proud Invernessian, born and bred in the Scottish Highlands. I’m a fully qualified, experienced tour guide and have been sharing the Highlands of Scotland with travellers since 2018. Based in Inverness, I grew up on a farm just along the road from Culloden Battlefield. Being raised in an area so deeply rooted in history provided the perfect foundation for my career in Adult Education and professional Tour Guiding. I specialize in private car tours for discerning travellers seeking an authentic, unhurried, and truly local Highland experience. I regularly welcome guests from Inverness and the Port of Invergordon, offering seamless cruise-ship pick-ups and thoughtfully curated itineraries designed to make the very best use of your time in the Highlands. My tours focus on depth rather than crowds, blending iconic Highland landscapes with lesser-known locations, local stories and genuine Highland hospitality. From castle-studded glens and dramatic lochs to quiet back roads and hidden corners of the Black Isle — and all the way west to the Isle of Skye — I can tailor each journey to your interests, and make sure you enjoy in comfort and at your own pace. Whether exploring by car or on foot through the historic streets of Inverness, you’ll be guided by someone who knows the Highlands as their home. I’m passionate about sharing local history & folklore, and I take great pleasure in introducing visitors to our food and drink producers. I'm also happy to offer insider knowledge on the best venues to listen to our traditional music! As a member of the Scottish Tourist Guide Association, I offer more than just a tour — I provide a genuine connection to this place. My clan (née MacRae) has been rooted in the area since before the Battle of Culloden, with our clan seat at Eilean Donan Castle on the road to Skye. If you have a Highland clan link, why not visit where your ancestors would have lived and worked? When I’m not guiding, I spend my time with my husband, family, granddaughter, and dog Archie, walking in the woods and by our lochs, enjoying the vast Scottish outdoors. I’m always gathering local stories and refining new itineraries to share with my guests. I offer flexible pick-ups from your accommodation or directly from your cruise ship. Booking me, you'd travel comfortably in my luxury BMW X1 SUV, which sits slightly higher for excellent views of the mountains & lochs. Now let's get on with your Highland journey of discovery! Welcome to a grand Highland journey packed with history, scenery, and a wee taste of Scotland’s finest whisky. We’ll travel through the Highlands and Moray, taking in Culloden Battlefield, beautiful castles, historic towns, Speyside distilleries, and charming villages – a real flavour of Scotland in one unforgettable day. We’ll start in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, before heading to Culloden Battlefield, where I’ll share the powerful story of the 1746 battle that changed Scotland forever. From there, we’ll visit Cawdor Castle, a stunning 16th-century fortress with beautiful gardens and a fascinating noble history. Next stop is Elgin, home to the magnificent ruins of Elgin Cathedral, known as the “Lantern of the North.” Then we head into Speyside, Scotland’s famous whisky region, where you can enjoy a distillery visit, learn how whisky is made, and sample some of the world’s best single malts.
• Inverness – The cultural heart of the Highlands, rich in history and legend. • Culloden Battlefield – Stand on the site of the tragic 1746 battle and learn its history. I'm a qualified local guide, and I will give you a private walking tour of the Battlefield. • Cawdor Castle – A beautifully preserved castle with a history dating back to the 14th century with stunning gardens. • Elgin – Explore the medieval beauty of Elgin Cathedral, a true Highland treasure. • Speyside Whisky Distilleries – Visit one of Scotland’s renowned distilleries for a distillery tour and whisky tasting session. • Carrbridge – Home to Scotland’s oldest stone bridge and a charming Highland atmosphere. • Highland Scenery & Wildlife – Keep an eye out for deer, pheasants, and perhaps even a Highland cow or two.
