I have over 14yrs experience working as a tour guide, with in the very best of the Scottish countryside, from our spectacular mountain scenery, breathtaking glens and deep mysterious lochs, to our romantic and often bloodied history, culture, gorgeous flora and fauna. Isle of Skye, it's my Family Land! Farmers and Doctors on Skye for the past 300yrs. I wont just share with you the history, but will also tell you what the next door neighbour is up to as well! lol. From Inverness, we are traveling through the North West Mountains, stunning rural scenery, before it's over the sea and onto the Isle of Skye. You travel up the island's east coast through the stunning Red Cuillin Mountains to Sligachan, where you stop for a photo of the clear mountain waters. We continue North to the most famous scenery of the island at the Trotternish Peninsula. The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, and the Quiraing they are all unforgettably beautiful. Our next stop is the capital village of Portree for some lunch. Once we depart Portree its onward to Eilean Donan Castle. You can go inside 'the most photographed castle in Scotland' or simply enjoy its view. Once we depart we travel through the five sisters mountain pass and onto Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, before we return to Inverness.
We spent a fantastic day with Ally touring the Isle of Skye. He was a terrific host and driver - knowledgeable, witty, and engaging on all manner of topics. It was a long day but felt short as he brought alive all the magnificent wonders of this beautiful landscape.
This tour was the highlight of our time in Scotland! Highly recommend Ally and his tour. Not only were we able to see everything we hoped we were able to learn more about the history and beauty of Scotland. Ally was on time, kind, thoughtful and so knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our questions. The van was pristine, clean and comfortable. So many OMGoodness, this is so amazing moments.
We had the most incredible all-day private tour of the Isle of Skye! Ally our guide picked us up right from the Royal Highland Hotel in Inverness, which made for such an easy start. The first stop was the stunning Eilean Donan Castle; it looked like something straight out of a fairytale. Once on Skye, our Ally knew all the best spots. We explored the charming, colourful harbour in Portree and then walked through the magical Fairy Glen—its strange, conical hills made it feel like another world. We couldn’t believe how much we saw in one day, from the dramatic Old Man of Storr to the sweeping views at the Quiraing. Having a private guide was fantastic; we never felt rushed and got to see everything on our list without the stress of driving. It was the perfect way to experience the highlights of Skye before being dropped back in Inverness. An absolutely unforgettable day!
We enjoyed a wonderful day with Ally going to the Isle of Skye. He was very responsive from the first time I messaged him until he dropped us off at the end of the tour. His knowledge of Scotland and personal stories made for a really interesting trip. His humor and kindness made it seem like we spent the day with a friend.
Our tour with Ally was great! We had one day to see a bit of the Scottish Highlands and Ally really showed us amazing sights -- without it ever feeling rushed. He not only took us to see fabulous places, but shared lots of historical and fun information about the places we were seeing and Scotland overall. He was knowledgeable, fun, with a great sense of humor. His car was clean and comfortable and he was a great driver. Ally even gave us some great tips on things to do and see when we went to Edinburgh.
Ally B was a great guide on our private full day tour from of all of Skye. Ally's luxury vehicle was able to take us on one track roads where a bus could not go. The scenery was breath-taking. Ally's superior knowledge of both the tour area and Scotland's history was joy and the day flew by - he was very entertaining. We highly recommend him as a guide.
- We leave your accommodation and travel along the 'High Road', taking my Grandads trail through the North West Mountains, with its stunning mountainous scenery. - Kyle of Lochalsh, this is a great wee stop for Coffee and comfort break. - Continue onto Isle of Skye, we travel north through the stunning Red Cuillin Mountains and Black Cuillin Mountain ranges, where you stop for a photo of the vista and clear mountain waters. - We continue north to The Trotternish Peninsula, where Hollywood are known for making there Blockbuster movies. - The Old Man of Storr - Kilt Rock where the rock formation resembles the pleats of our Kilts. - The Quiraing, for unforgettable photos. - Portree, the Capital of Skye for some lunch. - Once we depart Portree our next stop is Eilean Donan Castle. - 5 Sisters of Kintail mountain pass. - Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, for a wee photo and a chance to Nessie spot. - From here, its a wee drive back to your accommodation.
