Hi there! My name is Lewis. I'm a private tour guide based in the beautiful town of Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands, North of Inverness. Although I am relatively new to ‘Tours By Locals’, I started tour guiding back in 2022 after moving to Dornoch from Glasgow, and transitioning from a long career as a financial adviser. Since then I have gained lots of experience by travelling all over Scotland with guests from all over the World, visiting many stunning towns, lochs, mountains and Castles on our travels-it truly is a magnificent place to visit and live. It is also fantastic and enjoyable for myself to be working as a tour guide in such a stunning place. Having spent many holidays in the Highlands and Islands with family as a boy, (and more recently with my wife) learning about my Highland heritage from my Mackinnon and Macleod 'clan' relatives, I was excited to make the move to Dornoch and the Highlands a permanent one. I now also get to share my love of the amazing natural scenery, historic castles, battlefields, and even local whisky and gin distilleries with visitors from all over the world. The main tours I specialise in are the 'North Highlands tour'- including my hometown of Dornoch, with it's 13th century cathedral and championship golf course, the surrounding area including the spectacular Dunrobin Castle, amazing viewpoints and nature reserves such as Loch Fleet for some seal and bird spotting, along with the ever popular 'Inverness and Loch Ness tour' including Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle and Clava Cairns-always a hit with the Outlander fans! Another favourite is the 'Speyside Whisky Experience', where we can visit 3 distilleries sampling local and exclusive 'drams' of your favourite whisky, along with a guided distillery tour, and lunch at one of the fantastic local restaurants or cafes in the area. On our travels I will share many stories about the rich history, clans, language, and many battles of this historic Nation-however I can also promise we will have some fun and laughter on the way! I'm really excited to be taking you on a wonderful journey around our magnificent Country, and showcasing all the beauty that Scotland and the Highlands has to offer. Looking forward to meeting you!
