Overview of your Inverness tour
The Highland Classic: my most popular day tour! I enjoy this tour as it captures lochs, castles and battlefields which epitomises our history. We will travel South through the village of Beauly, climbing to over 1000ft above Loch Ness, where the Mountain views are simply stunning then onward to our first stop of the day, Urquhart Castle. From here its just a wee drive to Inverness for some free time to explore the City and have some lunch, and then its onto the The Clava Cairns. They are a fascinating and historical burial tombs that date back almost 4000yrs. A Clava Cairn is a type of circular chamber tomb cairn from the Bronze Age, from here the next stop is Culloden Battlefield. Culloden Battlefield has been restored as close as possible to how it was when the battle took place in April 1746. There is a fantastic state of the art visitors centre, where we have time to take in over 250yrs of history and artefacts since the Battle. From here, its just a wee drive back you your ship or accommodation.

Black Isle, but is not an Island and its not even Black, but when we're all together I shall explain why its both. ~Mackenzie/Fraser Land, made famous in the Diana Gabaldon series of Books and popular TV series, Outlander ~Abriachan View Point, our first photo stop, 1000ft above Loch Ness, with uninterrupted views of the North west Mountains, and photos of the Locals, a herd of Heilan Coos(Highland Cows) ~Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, dating from the 13c, we have our first visit, time to take in the past 700 years with loads of photo opportunities. ~City Of Inverness, a wee drive through, stopping for lunch and a wee wonder by the river. ~4000yr old Clava Cairns, The Clava cairn is a type of Bronze Age circular chamber tomb cairn, we're out exploring with the added opportunity to go into the cairns for your memorable photos. ~Culloden Battlefield, The last Battle between the Scottish and English Government soldiers took place here. From here its a wee drive back to your ship or accommodation.
