Overview of your Glasgow tour
The story of Jamie and Claire Fraser from the TV series Outlander has become an international success story. Visiting the filming sites of this TV show will be a treat for any Outlander enthusiast but every building on our trip has it's own fascinating history. I really love this adventure because it will allow us to step back into the past, just as Claire did. We will walk in a time of castles and clans and get first hand experience of the incredible history of these ancient buildings. When you are in the castles let your imagination run wild and you will feel the history around you, you can imagine the sights, sounds and smells of the past. Not only will you feel you have visited the Fraser's home but also that of Braveheart, the Outlaw King and indeed Mary Queen of Scots. All in a single day. Then you can return to your nice comfy bed and enjoy a good nights sleep.
Your Glasgow tour itinerary
The itinerary will be the following: - From the meeting point we will head out to Doune Castle. Jamie himself (Audio Tour), will guide you through the castle which was also used for the filming of Game of Thrones and Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Head off to Culross, a lovely little village which has kept many of its historic buildings and a perfect location for a witch trial. If you want to visit the palace it is essential to pre-book. We will stop here for lunch. - We will then go on to Blackness to visit our second castle of the day and the prison where Jamie is lashed by Captain Jack Randall. This was also the landing base that King Edward used for supplies during his invasion of Scotland. - We will complete our day with a visit to Midhope Castle, Jamie's home followed by a drive by Linlithgow Palace as we head back to Glasgow and your pick up point. Route may be altered to fit timings for early/late starts. This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to customize the tour.
