Glasgow and I have a lot in common - just like the city, I'm forever inspired by the people I meet and I don't take myself too seriously! I may not have been born in Glasgow, but after 10 years here it certainly feels like home. I graduated from Glasgow University with an MA in History and English Language. I love history because it is everywhere - in our landscapes, our architecture, our culture. To understand history is to understand ourselves! Scotland is a beautiful country, but with so much to explore, Glasgow can sometimes be overlooked. It's my job to show you exactly why it shouldn't be! Whether you're looking for a long wander through the city or lots of stops to our local museums, breweries, and eateries, I'd love to show you around. Looking after our planet is something that's really important to me. If you're interested, I'd love to make our time together as sustainable as it can be - without missing out on any of the fun, of course! I am not a licensed guide and cannot guide you once inside historical buildings (e.g. Glasgow Cathedral have their own guides). I cannot offer pick-up/drop off via car, but am happy to recommend public transport or arrange a taxi service.

Overview of your Glasgow tour

Walk with me across the wonderful city centre of Glasgow and learn all about its fascinating history - from medieval churches to modern day monuments. Together, we'll explore the architecture, people, and events that made Glasgow. Our tour will start at Glasgow Cathedral and its imposing Necropolis, where we'll discuss the impact of St Kentigern and the Reformation on the landscape of the city. From there, we'll walk along the medieval High Street to Glasgow Green. We'll then head towards the city centre, discovering what Buchanan Street and George Square reveal about the prosperity and problems of Victorian Glasgow. This tour typically takes around 4 hours, but can be longer if you'd like. We'll have plenty of opportunities through the day to spend more time at the sites that interest you most, and a wealth of local cafes and restaurants to stop and enjoy as we see fit.

Beth led us thru the U. of Glasgow, the Botanical Gardens, the Kelvingrove Museum, and the west end of Glasgow (as a town). We had continuous conversation about history, socio-political issues, Brexit, UK vs Scotish Healthcare System, etc. She is knowedgeable about these things as well as bright and curious about linguistics and related. She is very related and responsive as a person and a very good listener. She is up on current news and studies including stuff coming out of USA (our background)
