Hi, I’m Neil, a private tour guide based in Edinburgh. I was born and brought up in the Edinburgh area and have spent most of my life exploring Scotland. After a 30-year career in the Police Service, I moved into tourism, and 15 years later I’m still doing something I really enjoy – showing visitors around my country. I’ve worked as a tour guide at Glenkinchie Distillery and I’m an accredited Whisky Ambassador, so whisky is a particular interest of mine. I also enjoy Scotland’s history, golf, scenery and, perhaps most of all, sharing the stories behind the places we visit. I don’t believe in rushing people from one attraction to the next. I like to find out what interests you and build the day around that. Whether it’s your first visit to Scotland or you’ve been here before, I can suggest places and routes that suit you. My tours can cover Edinburgh and the surrounding area, or take us much further afield into the Highlands, the islands and other parts of Scotland. I travel in a luxury Mercedes V-Class, which can accommodate up to seven guests, or a BMW 7 Series for smaller groups. I’m also a Police-qualified advanced driver, so you can relax and enjoy the journey while I take care of the driving. I’ve been lucky enough to show people from all over the world around Scotland over the years, and I still enjoy seeing their reaction when they discover somewhere new. Your Edinburgh tour itinerary
We begin with a scenic drive to Deanston Distillery, set in a former cotton mill on the River Teith, where you can enjoy a guided tour and tasting. We continue to Glengoyne Distillery, known for its slow distillation and location at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill, with time to learn about its traditional methods and sample its whisky. After a lunch stop, we travel to Rosebank Distillery, a Lowland distillery known for its light, triple-distilled style, now brought back to life. Throughout the day, there’s time for photos, short stops and a relaxed pace, with travel in a luxury Mercedes V-Class or BMW 7 Series and flexibility to suit your interests.
