Since moving to Edinburgh in 1988 from Germany, via South Africa and Switzerland, I am continually struck by the awesome beauty of this European Capital, by the visible history, the living culture and the juxtaposition of nature and city. I have been guiding individuals and groups through Edinburgh, Scotland and the rest of the UK since 1994 and just love imparting knowledge, local anecdotes, introducing guests to the history and the daily life of this mesmerising country and city. Come and join me on one of my walks and prepare to be enchanted, entertained and educated. If you have any particular requirements or interests, I would love to hear from you and could then tailor a tour exactly to your requirements/interests. As a mother of six, I am particularly suited to adapt the program towards children/teenagers and have experience in bringing history alive for them. I very much look forward to meeting you and showing you around! 29yrs of experience of guiding individuals and groups for shorter or longer holidays, including cruise passengers. References available on request. Clean UK driver's licence. Aquila accredited Guide.

Edinburgh is privileged to have one of only three UK royal residences, namely Holyrood Palace. But during the ages, the Kings and Queens of Scotland have also lived at Edinburgh Castle and this private tour with your own local guide will acquaint you with these fantastic buildings. Holyrood Palace is still used to this day by the Royal Family and features a ruined abbey on its grounds. Edinburgh Castle is home to the oldest Crown Jewels in Europe, called "The Honours of Scotland". We will visit both these monuments (unless the Queen is in residence when we revert to visiting her no less famous former swimming home, the Royal Yacht Britannia) and stroll along the Royal Mile, through the heart of the Old Town of Edinburgh. I would love to show you these gems of Edinburgh, illustrating what it is like to live in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and share my passion for this Capital City.
The suggested itinerary will be as followed: - Meet up at Edinburgh Castle - Castle visit with free time - Stroll down the Royal Mile, exploring the various closes/alleys - Holyrood Palace visit (or alternatively Royal Yacht Britannia)
