Hi, my name is Carles! How are you? Do you like hiking? Do you love nature? Welcome to Catalonia; you will enjoy this great land on foot and realize what a magnificent hiking destination it is! I started guiding people back in 2010 and became an official mountain leader in 2012. Since then, I have been leading groups of persons, both locals and strangers, mainly in the Pyrenees mountain range, to which I feel deeply attached, but also in other regions and areas. I recently got an Interpretation and Environmental Education professional certification to work as an environmental educator. That is something that fits pretty well with my mountain guiding career. I like meeting people from all over the world: the meeting between two cultures breaks the monotony of life, and it's a good chance to share knowledge and realize that we human beings have similar universal needs, no matter the detailed shape we sculpt with them. So, being deeply in touch with nature is a part of me, and I feel the need to share and show you the cultural and natural richness of my region and to do it walking with you! It is by walking that we discover more vividly the beauty and the inherent interest of each place. Here I propose a selection of day trips departing from Barcelona, something I've prepared for you with great care and that you won't regret! As it is commonly said, Catalonia has much more to offer than just Barcelona and its highlights. So, if you are already a veteran of Las Ramblas, Eixample, the Gothic quarter or the seaside, and have suffered a vertigo attack in one of the towers of Sagrada Familia, before going back home you may want to stretch your legs in the outdoors and get some fresh air while enjoying nature, heritage and local food. If you're an accomplished hiker and have extra days, I can arrange a precious multiday trek across the Pyrenees or other areas by sleeping in comfortable mountain shelters. Just tell me in advance what you want, and I'll do my best to suit your needs! Have a nice trip! -Interpretation and Environmental Education professional certification: 2023. -Official Mountain Leader since 2012. Institut de La Pobla de Segur (Lleida) 2011-2012. Poblet is a Cistercian monastery built in the 12th century. The different historical periods that this building has suffered and endured constitute different architectural and artistic styles. The whole place is worth a visit so we can discover and learn a little about how the monks or the servants of the monastery lived their lives in the Middle Ages. To get a broader picture of the former monastery life we are hiking through its beautiful surroundings. Declared Natural Location back in 1984 this mountain, mostly covered by a well-preserved Mediterranean forest, is a natural reserve for two trees: Quercus pyrenaica (a kind of oak) and Taxus baccata (yew). The rich geology of this area allows the formation of natural springs even during the hot and dry summers. Apart from exploring the natural richness of the forest of Poblet, we will climb La Pena's ravine up to a lookout from which we'll enjoy wonderful views of the monastery and -if the day is clear- the Pyrenees mountains!
