Historical and Modern Barcelona seen through the eyes of a local professor! This is Lluis, a local professor born and raised in Barcelona. People say that home is where the heart is, and that would be my case. I'm in love with my city! I love walking its promenades, enjoying the wonderful sunlight while admiring everyday life, or getting lost within the small alleys and corners of every neighborhood. My Barcelona is full of historical sites and buildings, I can show you around and share the local culture and history with you, not only the one written down in the books but also the oral one, the one that's been transmitted from generation to generation. This city is full of places that I'd love to share, some hidden ones, some places that only some locals know, or just my favorite spot. Let's enjoy a conversation that could last for hours while we take a drink. How about some mid-afternoon snack? maybe some tapas? Or perhaps we dig into the sweet chocolate with churros? At the same time as an Economy and International trade and relations professor, I have some knowledge about modern society, economic sectors within the city, and development of itself. Maybe there are some questions you always wanted to ask, some of the questions books hardly can solve. Here I am for you to answer them! I have always thought that one of the best parts of traveling is getting to know the local culture and its people and establishing lasting connections. I have been traveling to several places and there are still a lot more to come. In all of them, I have always met wonderful people who have introduced me to the local culture, and now it's my turn to let you experience the city from a local point of view. What can you expect from my tours? Me, Lluis, a passionate guy who loves his city, but also someone who knows a bit of History, local culture, gastronomy, economy, and city development. Someone who can take you to different spots to discover the real Barcelona and a friend who can answer all your questions while helping you discover this amazing city at your own pace. Hope to see you soon! - Master Degree in Teaching Economy and administration Background (Tarragona, 2019) - Master Degree in International Relations and European Studies (Göteborg, 2015) - Master Degree in Market research (Barcelona, 2013) - Master Degree in Business Administration (Barcelona, 2012) - Bachelor in History (Barcelona, 2008) - I do not drive nor have a car. Public transport can be used, or walking. – Minivan or private car with a professional driver can be arranged - I will not be able to take you inside of the historical monuments.

For you, who is passionate about history, who will be delighted to learn about the city of Barcelona and the Catalan culture and its curious for nature. I'll take you to discover the ruins left behind by the Romans, the Romanesque foundations of some of the later on gothic buildings and which parts of those are truly gothic. We will learn about the historical period from the early middle ages to the late ones. How the conquest of the Americas by castilla turned Barcelona into an economic depression during the Modern era and how later on, while observing some of the Modernist masterpices the city re-emerged from its ashes similarly to a phoenix. Ildefons Cerdà reshaped the city, once the late medieval walls were demolished, the brand new Eixample was created with its magnificent Passeig de Gràcia filled with Modernist buildings. We will contemplate the Basilica of La Sagrada Familia and Hospital de Sant Pau to end up sightseeing the contemporary Barcelona and to our beloved Mediterranean shore.

Barcelona is meant to be walked and the tour is designed for it. The old town is flat an easy to walk but cars nor public transportation cant get inside. Once in Plaça Catalunya public transportation or taxi can be used at the guest expenses although its more recommendable to walk
