Hi, my name is Cayetano. I am a licensed guide from Barcelona, born and raised here. I have been working in the hospitality and tourism for almost 27 years, mainly in hotels and tour companies in Spain, South East Asia and the United States. Twelve years ago I decided to become a professional tour guide and passed the exams that allow me to work as a licensed tour guide not only in Barcelona but also in Catalonia. I hold a bachelor's degree in Art History and a second bachelor's degree in Business (Hospitality and Tourism). This solid background allows me to deliver a top notch service and exceed the expectations of my clients. I love my job, I love my hometown Barcelona and I love my country, Catalonia. It is always a pleasure to share my knowledge about my country and my hometown with visitors coming from all around the world. I would like to be your host during your stay in Barcelona, please feel free to write me if you have any question about my the tours posted on ToursByLocals or if you don't find on my site what you are looking for. I look forward to seeing you soon in Barcelona!!! -Official Guide License, issued by the Catalan Government -Bachelor's Degree in Art History, University of Barcelona -Bachelor's Degree in Business (Hospitality and Tourism), CETT, University of Barcelona -MBA, EAE Business School, Barcelona -Member of AGUICAT (Professional licensed tour guides Association of Catalonia). -Private Pilot License (PPL) My tours are always private tours for you and you party only. This two hour walking tour will take us to the narrowest alleys of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona to experience how the life of the biggest jewish community of the Kingdom of Aragon and Catalunya was during the Middle Ages. We will discover the important role this community played not only in the every day life of the city of Barcelona and the Kingdom of Aragon but also how important and well connected the Talmudic and Kabbalah scholars from Barcelona were with other jewish scholars from jewish communities around the Mediterranean. We will learn about the local key talmudic law and Kabbalah scholars from the middle ages whose works are still studied now a days. Even though I mention the importance of the medieval Jewish communities of Spain in most of my tours, this is a great tour to get a more detailed explanation of this subject. *If you book the tour on Saturday please keep in mind that the Synagogue will be closed due to Sabbath.
-Walk throughout the narrow alleys of El Call , the Medieval Jewish Quarter of Barcelona. -King's Square and steps of Royal Palace, place were scholars claim Christopher Columbus was welcomed by the Catholic Kings after his first expedition to the Americas. -Greater Medieval Synagogue of Barcelona (Greater Synagogue is closed since March 2020) it will remain temporarily closed until further notice.

This is mainly a walking tour, Old City Barcelona was not built to be driven by cars or mini vans, the streets and alleys are very narrow. Most of the streets we will explore are just for pedestrians.
