Overview of your Ponta Delgada tour
After leaving Ponta Delgada, a quick stop at Vila Franca do Campo, the first Azorean administrative capital, and then following towards the interior of the island, on the road that divides the municipalities of Nordeste and Povoação. Here you can enjoy two of the island's largest volcanic craters before pic nic lunch stop in the historic Povoação civil parish. Nordeste mountain was formed more than 4, 000, 000 years ago, being the oldest area on the island and probably one of the most picturesque, with several stops on mountain viewpoints with its gardens and sea views with huge cliffs covered with lush vegetation. Before returning to Ponta Delgada, a mandatory stop at the Ribeira dos Caldeirões, to see some waterfalls and several fully recovered water mills, in a beautiful and exotic garden.
