Making this tour always reminds me of my childhood and this is where I feel why I love some much doing this. The west side of the island is formed by the volcanic complex of Sete Cidades with several ponds and lakes all over the mountain. It's possible to choose two types of vehicle, but on this one, the 4x4 car is the best choice. After visiting some lakes with great vegetation and old aquaducts, we will ride over the north ridge and be able to see the great Sete Cidades caldera with a stunning lake on various points with different perspectives, and then, it's possible to go down inside the caldera and see part of the inhabited zone, with some places of extreme natural beauty around the lake and explore every corners of it. A remarkable place in my life, where I spent all summer as a child and still remains a family refuge.
We had two wonderful days with Ricardo, being a locale he had nice island history and knew many ins and outs around the island. We stayed for eight days and each morning Ricardo would text us different places to visit and dine based on where we wanted to go that day, always spot on! We highly recommend Ricardo! Thank you

Ricardo was an excellent tour guide! Unfortunately, it was very foggy on the day we were in Ponta Delgada, so we weren't able to see all of the viewpoints listed on the itinerary. However, Ricardo went out of his way to find alternative things for us to do an see such as going to some towns on the island and to grab a bite at a long standing bakery. This was an amazing, authentic experience for me. Highly recommend to everyone!
Pick up. - Pico do Carvão (viewpoint) - Lagoas Empadadas (twin lakes) walking 30 minutes (optional) - Aqueduct 9 windows (old aqueduct made of volcanic stones) - Vista do Rei - Serrado das Freiras - Lagoa Santiago - Casa de Chá o Poejo (Pennyroyal tea house) - Sete Cidades lake (viewpoint) - Túnel - Escalvado (viewpoint to Mosteiros parish and Ferraria) - Ferraria (a small bay on the ocean with natural heated water and SPA) - OPTIONAL Drop off. Remember, this is my suggested itinerary, customization can also be done while on tour within the time limits.
