Visit Furnas Van Full Day Tour

My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful day with Jorge. We were met at the airport and dropped off at our hotel after the tour. Jorge is a native of the Azores and very knowledgeable about its history, culture, and scenery. I hope to return again and have Jorge show us more of the islands.

This was our second day of tours with Jorge. Through my initial interactions with him formulating our first tour of the Ponta Delgada town and vicinity, I felt that we would enjoy having him show us another part of the island and I was correct. We were a group of 6 (3 active couples in our 60s). Jorge met us at our hotel with a spacious van. He had water and umbrellas if needed. We climbed to the church in Villa Franco de Campo for gorgeous views of that part of the island. We went to the hot springs and experienced that unique town. We went to a gorgeous black sand beach. One of the last (but not least ) things we did that day was a dip in the thermal pool at Parque Terra Nostra and then a walk through one of the most spectacular gardens we have ever seen. Jorge has excellent knowledge of the plants growing on the island and the history of where and how they arrived, which enhanced that portion of the trip even more (he has long family history on the island). Jorge will cater your tour to be as easy or strenuous as you'd like. The island has some amazing longer hikes that we would have loved to go on but we simply ran out of time.

Jorge was amazing! We had a wonderful day and he accommodated all of our special requests. We got lucky with the fog and had spectacular views. We enjoyed the whole day and benefited from Jorge’s vast knowledge.

We spent two wonderful days exploring the island with Jorge. He is extremely knowledgeable, personable and a great driver (the roads are steep and narrow). Thanks for a wonderful time Jorge!

Jorge had already arrived for our early disembarkation from the cruise ship. He brought us to the highlights of the island and was helpful, for example, in getting the water outlets at Terra Nostra turned back on when they were initially off and also took us to a charming store where I was able to bring back excellent souvenirs for co-workers of jam made with unique, local fruit. However, he peppered the day with a number of prejudicial comments about various ethnic and religious groups, asking me pointedly at one point if I was Jewish and complained how Jews owned everything. Unless your views and religion match his, I'd probably recommend choosing a different guide.

Jorge Dias was our guide while we were in Sao Miguel and I could not have asked for a more informative or friendly guide. He picked us up on time and the vehicle was clean. He drove carefully and was able to give us all the information we would need for the adventure. He made the adventure pleasant and informative. I would highly recommend him.
