I use my expertise and experince to design all the tours to be real "tours by a local". Every single one of them is slightly different from the standard offer of tours in Krakow. I will be thrilled to show you the "must-sees", recommend the "must-dos", and take you off the beaten track to mingle with the locals in Krakow and its surroundings. Please, take a look at the itineraries that I offer here for you, and if there is anything that you would like to change or add to them, just message me with a request for a customized tour. Then anything can be done! I am also happy to take you to towns and villages which are not listed here. I will be looking forward to your message. If you would like to get to know me a little better, here is a bit of background information: I was born in 1989, just two months after the first democratic election in Poland. My attitude towards my country was shaped by my family: the grandparents, all of whom still had the trauma and vivid memories of World War II, and my parents, who spent their 20s watching the long-awaited fall of communism. This background is the reason for my fascination with the 20th century history. It makes me extremely proud that after 30 years of struggle to "catch up with the West" Poland is gaining so much recognition from world travelers and I feel privileged to get to share with you the amazing history and culture of my country! For my education, I chose two faculties: Tourism and English Language & Culture. Now, after 11 years of working as a city guide and tour leader, I believe this was a perfect combination which helped me provide first-class service to my guests. My energy, sunny disposition, and fascination with Krakow are contagious and will make your visit here worthwhile never mind the weather or time of day! 'Where do local Krakow people actually live?' - I cannot count how many times this question popped up while I was walking around the Old Town and historic Jewish Quarter with my guests. To give you a perfect answer, I designed this private city tour of two districts: Podgorze and Nowa Huta. Although the history of these districts is about 150 years apart, both places are connected with times which shaped and defined Polish national identity, times directly before and directly after World War 2. The Podgorze district is full of 19th century architecture, amazing villas, lots of greenery. It is home to many local artists and aspiring to be the most hip district of the city. Nowa Huta was designed in 1950s as a perfect communist town. I would dare to say it is the most controversial part of Krakow. While people who remember communist times tend to have very vivid bad memories connected with this regime, young people often find the mundane architecture and simplicity of local life charming and inspiring
•Pick-up at your accommodation •Private tour of the Podgorze District (ca. 2 hours) where we will see: -the Bernatka Bridge which is full of 'love locks' and modern art -former Main Square with St. Joseph's Church and lots of quaint townhouses -a district of 19th century villas where a lot of popular artists live -beautiful greenery, and the smallest church in Krakow. •A drive to Nowa Huta (ca. 15 mins) and a private tour of the district (ca. 2 hours) including: -the Administrative Buildings of the former Vladimir Lenin Steelworks (the direct reason for the district to be built), -the Central Square which is now dedicated to Ronald Reagan, where we will talk about the paradoxes of communism -Projects and neighbourhoods designed to suit the 'perfect communist community', where we will see how this community is coping with the challenges of capitalism right now We will make sure to mingle with the locals during a coffee break or short lunch at one of the original milk bars.
