Auschwitz Birkenau Museum Guided Tour with private transport

Some tours get shelved and dusty in the memory bank, and then there was this tour with Tours by Locals/Tomasz. It's been a couple of weeks now, and I haven't spent an hour without thinking about the vast knowledge shared and the inclusive, personalized care Tomasz showed us during the Auschwitz | Birkenau tour. I'm sure most of the vetted guides are outstanding, but Tomasz made us feel like friends -- out of the gate, he mentioned we should/can ask him anything. Please GO on this tour! Our guide, Tomasz, was fantastic - he does not need to improve a single thing. He has such a pleasant personality and is brilliant in his knowledge of history and all things Krakow/Auschwitz Birkenau. His English is excellent. The drive went by quickly as we enjoyed conversation with Tomasz, and his insights prepared us for the sobering tour ahead. A different guide took us through the camps (as required by Auschwitz) and we each had an earpiece for most of the tour, which really made it easy to hear. (Birkenau does not offer earpieces and we wished it were possible.) School children in Poland are required to visit the camps --- to me it seems that residents of the world should be required as well. This staggering piece of world history must be understood by all. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour!! Tomasz was friendly, timely, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. We had a great - even if overwhelmingly sad given the nature of the tour - time with him. I would highly recommend him for this and other tours that he gives.

We would give Tomasz even more than 5 stars, if possible! We feel extremely fortunate to have had Tomasz as our guide to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the Salt Mine. He carefully arranged all the details to be sure our visits went smoothly. He made sure we saw all the most important features of each site and those along the way -- including sites at Auschwitz-Birkenau not usually seen on official tours and information about buildings we passed along the way to these sites. Our time with him definitely was a highlight of our Krakow experience.
