I grew up exploring the courtyards and side streets of Kraków, and today I share my experiences with visitors from all over the world. I'm Magda, a licensed Kraków city guide, a certified mountain guide for the Beskidy range and a licensed guide for Ojców National Park. I also hold a BA in English Philology and a diploma in Tourism and Hospitality. Kraków is a magical city, and I came to know it little by little, starting with my own backyard, until discovering it became my passion. I'd love to show you the Kraków we locals are proud of: a thousand years of European history, a vibrant culture and the remarkable people who shaped it. Beyond the classic Old Town and Wawel, I'm happy to take you off the beaten path: to Nowa Huta, a socialist-realist "ideal city" unlike anywhere else in Europe; through the story of Kraków during World War II; into the city's fascinating medical history. If you'd rather see Kraków on the move, we can even explore it on a running tour. I'll also show you everyday life here: where we grab coffee, where to find the best pierogi, where we go to relax and where to shop like a local. And if you'd like to escape the city bustle, I'll take you hiking in Ojców National Park, a beautiful valley of limestone cliffs and castle ruins less than an hour from Kraków, or further afield into the Beskidy Mountains. I love being a traveller myself, and years of exploring the world and working in tourism and hospitality have taught me how to make every guest feel looked after. I can't wait to show you my Kraków!

Discover Nowa Huta, Kraków’s socialist “ideal city”, with a licensed guide who was born and raised in Kraków. Built shortly after World War II around the vast Lenin Steelworks, it was meant to be a model town for the new working class and a counterweight to Kraków’s intellectual and Catholic traditions. On this walk you’ll explore monumental socialist realist architecture, wide avenues and green courtyards designed down to the smallest detail, and learn how everyday life looked in a planned communist town. You’ll hear how the residents fought for a church of their own, how Nowa Huta became a stronghold of Solidarity, and what happened to the Lenin statue that once stood here. We’ll also visit the medieval Cistercian Abbey in Mogiła, a reminder that this area’s history goes back centuries. As a private tour, it adapts to your interests and pace, whether you love architecture, 20th-century history or simply want to see a different side of Kraków.
1. Central Square. The heart of the socialist city, designed as a grand representative space; today named after Ronald Reagan. 2. Avenue of Roses. Where the Lenin statue stood from 1973 to 1989, and the story of its unusual fate. 3. Socialist realist estates. Monumental facades, arcades and leafy courtyards planned as self-sufficient neighbourhoods. 4. Nowa Huta Museum. A look at everyday life in the communist era (optional, entry fee applies; the underground shelter can also be visited). 5. Steelworks Administrative Centre. The monumental “Doge’s Palace”, the gateway to the giant Lenin Steelworks. 6. Cistercian Abbey in Mogiła. A 13th-century monastery showing the area’s history long before the communist era.

We’ll meet in the Old Town and travel to Nowa Huta together by tram (about 20–25 minutes), which gives a great view of how the city changes from medieval Kraków to the socialist town. In Nowa Huta, we’ll explore mostly on foot, with a short tram ride between more distant sights if needed. At the end of the tour, I’ll show you the easiest way back to the city centre. Public transport tickets are not included; I’ll help you buy them at the ticket machine. If you prefer, we can also meet directly in Nowa Huta.
