I grew up exploring the courtyards and side streets of Kraków, and today I share my experiences with visitors from all over the world. I'm Magda, a licensed Kraków city guide, a certified mountain guide for the Beskidy range and a licensed guide for Ojców National Park. I also hold a BA in English Philology and a diploma in Tourism and Hospitality. Kraków is a magical city, and I came to know it little by little, starting with my own backyard, until discovering it became my passion. I'd love to show you the Kraków we locals are proud of: a thousand years of European history, a vibrant culture and the remarkable people who shaped it. Beyond the classic Old Town and Wawel, I'm happy to take you off the beaten path: to Nowa Huta, a socialist-realist "ideal city" unlike anywhere else in Europe; through the story of Kraków during World War II; into the city's fascinating medical history. If you'd rather see Kraków on the move, we can even explore it on a running tour. I'll also show you everyday life here: where we grab coffee, where to find the best pierogi, where we go to relax and where to shop like a local. And if you'd like to escape the city bustle, I'll take you hiking in Ojców National Park, a beautiful valley of limestone cliffs and castle ruins less than an hour from Kraków, or further afield into the Beskidy Mountains. I love being a traveller myself, and years of exploring the world and working in tourism and hospitality have taught me how to make every guest feel looked after. I can't wait to show you my Kraków!

Experience World War II in Kraków through the eyes of Poles and Polish Jews, with a licensed guide who was born and raised in Kraków. For centuries, Christian and Jewish communities lived close to each other in Kazimierz, each with its own traditions, institutions and way of life. We’ll begin in the Catholic part of the district and continue to Jewish Kazimierz, with its historic synagogues and cemetery, to understand the vibrant community that once made up about a quarter of Kraków’s population. Then we’ll cross the river to Podgórze, where the Nazi occupiers created the ghetto. You’ll see the remaining fragments of the ghetto wall, the memorial on Ghetto Heroes Square and the pharmacy whose Polish owner helped its residents. You’ll learn how both communities lived under occupation, about resistance, rescue and survival, and what remains today. As a private tour, it adapts to your interests and pace, with time for questions and reflection.
1. Wolnica Square and Corpus Christi Basilica. The heart of Christian Kazimierz and the story of its neighbouring Jewish community. 2. Plac Nowy. The former Jewish market square, with its round market hall, once a kosher poultry slaughterhouse. 3. Szeroka Street. The historic centre of Jewish Kazimierz and its religious and community life before the war. 4. Remuh Synagogue and Old Jewish Cemetery. An active synagogue and one of Europe’s oldest Jewish cemeteries. 5. Old Synagogue. The oldest surviving synagogue building in Poland (optional entry). 6. Ghetto Heroes Square. The memorial of empty chairs, the history of the ghetto, and the Eagle Pharmacy, whose Polish owner Tadeusz Pankiewicz helped its residents. 7. Ghetto Wall. A surviving fragment of the wall that cut the ghetto off from the rest of the city. 8. Father Bernatek Footbridge. We’ll cross back over the Vistula and finish the tour at Wolnica Square.

This is a walking tour; no transportation is needed. We’ll walk from Kazimierz across the Vistula to Podgórze. The tour starts and ends at Wolnica Square in Kazimierz, about 15 minutes on foot from the Old Town or a short tram ride away.
Plac Wolnica, Kraków, Poland
We’ll meet at Wolnica Square in Kazimierz, in front of the former Kazimierz Town Hall (now the Ethnographic Museum), a large Renaissance building in the middle of the square. The square is about 15 minutes on foot from the Main Market Square and easy to reach by taxi or tram; the “Plac Wolnica” tram stop is right next to it. I’ll be waiting for you there; please message me if you have any trouble finding the spot.
