This tour offers you a unique insight, a female perspective, on the Red Light District that no other guide can give. I own a specialty chocolate shop in the Red Light District and am involved in different social & cultural initiatives in the neighborhood. This has given me the chance to get to know the neighborhood in all it's diversity: not just the 'wild side' what it's mostly known for, but also the historical city heart, current events, (local) hot spots, local entrepeneurs and my views and perspectives on the area. During this tour I would like to tell you about the history of the area, current changes, social and cultural projects and my own experiences and stories.
- We meet at Damrak (or your hotel) - Start of the Red Light District as a (former) harbor area - The old heart of town - Prostitution: the Dutch policy - New initiatives due to a major gentrification project - Visit to my (chocolate) shop, a former window brothel, located in the Red Light District - Stories of different women who helped to shape the tolerant character of the Red Light District in their own way
