The core belief of my experiences is that the most significant and ultimate attraction of Guadalajara is its people. Born and raised in Guadalajara, I went into tourism studies after living in Canada and New Zealand with the purpose of making the history and culture of my country visible to the world, thus helping to change the image of Mexico that is often portrayed by the media. With that goal in mind, I would like to provide you with an authentically local experience that allows you to immerse in the daily life of the community by walking through the most emblematic neighborhoods, markets and plazas, while engaging directly with the local inhabitants of Guadalajara. Whether a family with children, a couple, a group of friends, a business person or a solo backpacker, my tours are highly flexible and easily adaptable to meet your specific needs. My hope is that, by the end of the day, you will have created an emotional bond with the people of Guadalajara and broadened your perspective on Mexican society. 7 years working as a tour guide. I hold a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master's degree in social studies from the University of Guadalajara. I learned to speak English while living in cities like Auckland, New Zealand; Vancouver, Canada; and Asheville, USA. I have published academic papers and book chapters on tourism, indigenous shamanism, and the role of cultural heritage in promoting local economic development. I've appeared on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the US as part of the show 100 Days, Drinks, Dishes and Destinations. I am not a driver-guide, I'm only a guide but I will arrange for a licensed driver and a car for our tour.

As we walk and explore, I’ll share insights to help you better understand the historical and current context of both Zapopan and Mexico. From old markets, churches and plazas, to modern shopping centers and restaurant clusters, book your adventure today and experience the authentic charm and energy of this Jalisco gem.
We’ll begin at the Basilica of Our Lady of Zapopan, a world-renowned pilgrimage site with deep roots in indigenous history and Catholic tradition. You'll learn about the image of Our Lady, her cultural impact, and Pope John Paul II’s 1979 visit. Next is the Museo de Arte Wixarika, offering a rich glimpse into indigenous spirituality and artistry through vibrant yarn paintings, beadwork, ceremonial masks, and sacred objects. Then, we’ll explore Plaza de las Americas, Zapopan’s lively town square filled with cafes, markets, churches, and street food. Our nature break takes us to Bosque Colomos, a 227-acre urban forest ideal for light hiking and birdwatching, featuring a tranquil Japanese garden. We’ll wrap up at Plaza Andares, Guadalajara’s top shopping and dining hub, enjoying local cuisine and cocktails at Rio Viejo before returning to your accommodation.
