Hola, My name is Anwar and I am the coolest tour guide in Mexico. My family is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, the birthplace of tequila and mariachi. My tour guiding started when I became an Uber driver. I would pick up tourists in Uber and talking in English they would ask me what places to see, what restaurants to eat at, where is there live mariachi. . . etc. In the end, they would just hire me to be their guide/driver. That's how I became a guide a bit over 3 years ago, and I love it!! My years as an Uber driver have given me great knowledge of the city of Guadalajara and its many places. I also like history and the Arts and I combine that with my passion to show visitors the richness of my culture and the beautiful landmarks that Guadalajara has to offer. I've also lived part-time in the United States and this background has given me a unique perspective on how I view my country and how others view Mexico, something that helps me connect with visitors! I can do tours all over the state of Jalisco as well as personalize them. I especially like when it's somebody's first time in Guadalajara and I'm their guide, showing them around. A guide is also an ambassador to the country, we are the representation of the country, the connection between the visitor and what's visited, and it's my goal that all visitors have a great experience here! I will get you up close to the culture and people of Guadalajara and show you why it is an important part of Mexico and the Mexican culture. There is a slogan: Jalisco is Mexico! In my tours, you will find out why that is so. English language certified Certified and accredited by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico Chofer driver's license Diploma in Excursionism Diploma of General tour Guide Half a decade of experience guiding In my tours, there are no limitations!

Overview of your Guadalajara tour

This is a historical tour with dish tasting included, mainly in Centro Historico, where you'll learn of Guadalajara's history from pre-colonial, colonial, and modern times through its architecture. I'll lead you across Guadalajara, explaining everything from historical landmarks to traditions. You'll learn why this city is so relevant to Mexico's culture and background. We'll explore our main Cathedral and many chapels sprinkled throughout the city. We'll visit many public Plazas, where I'll share some legends and myths with you. All while eating Mexican ice cream! We'll also gaze upon the beautiful murals of famous Mexican muralist Jose Clemente Orozco at the Hospicio Cabañas, a UNESCO World Heritage site! You'll also discover a centuries-old underground bridge called "Puente de las Damas" (1798), built in order to let 18th-century women cross the river safely so they could visit a religious icon. We'll be among locals and eat like locals, as well as enter old marketplaces that are still working today.

Your Guadalajara tour itinerary

The first stop of our tour would be Plaza de Los Fundadores, in Guadalajara's "Centro Histórico". It has this name due to being where Spaniards founded the city in 1542. Places we will explore after the plaza, in the appropiate order: --Cathedral of Guadalajara --Palacio Municipal --Palacio de Gobierno --Plaza de La Liberacion --Teatro Degollado --Rotonda de Las y los Jaliscienses Ilustres --Plaza Tapatia --Museo Hospicio Cabañas --Mercado San Juan de Dios --Parroquia de San Juan de Dios --Plaza de Los Mariachis -- Lunch at Tortas Ahogadas Don Jose --Puente de Las Damas --Lastly, "Los Dos Templos" We will stop for lunch at the famous Tortas Ahogadas Don Jose de La Bicicleta, also located in Centro Historico, from around 2 pm-3 pm. Tortas Ahogadas is a traditional dish of Guadalajara. Along this tour, you will see Mariachi in the streets as well as other cultural events that people celebrate publicly in Guadalajara. This tour can be customized to best fit your specific preferences!
